KG1's with Yamaha RX-777

Hi, 

 

First post here. Love the Klipsch sound. Used to own a pair of Forte II's but let them go cause they didn't fit in the house.  Currently playing RB-51ii's on the Yamaha RX-777 receiver. Sounds pretty good but would like a little more bass. Found a mint pair of KG1's and am wondering if they would have more bass than the RB-51ii's and if they would be a good match for the Yamaha?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I have never compared the kg1 to the rb51. Where are you located by the way?

Kg 1's, RB51ii's; they're so close as to  not be worth switching between the two. If you want more bass (you're likely in search of LOWER bass, not MORE bass, as you already tasted the nectar of the Forte's) get yourself a subwoofer.

Doubtful.  The RB-51's should theoretically perform better than the KG-1's.  The KG-1.2's I had were really rough around the edges.  That's on speaker I won't be going back to any time soon.

It is so rare for any amplifier made in the last 40 years not to "match" any speaker made in the last 60 years that the question has little meaning.  Yes, some amps/receivers sound better than others, especially when pushed, but for all but the strangest situations, everything "matches" 

 

I suggest you find a pair of KG2s with passive radiator.  Be sure to give the passive a few inches of clearance to the walls.  The same applies to the rear port of your RB-51s.
