Marantz SR-7000 or Denon 3300?

When i replace my receiver in six months, it will be down to these two. I will have compleated the Klipsch synergy six by then and will buy a new one. Im leaning to the marantz because i have heard of bad fan problems with the denon.

Which would sound better? I cannot demo these, not sold anywhere close by. Please help me. I will purchase these online too. Only choice, please reccommend a good online retailer.

Afraid, go with the Marantz SR-8000 instead of the 7000 if you can afford it. I think maybe $200 more.... I found mine for $950 at Uncle's. The remote with the SR-8000 is awesome and the 8000 has some added features that should not be under-estimated. I've had mine for 8 months and it keeps sounding better. Build quality is awesome, tuner portion is flawless. DD and DTS, 105 x 5 wpc with 5-ch stereo. I'm running KLF-30's, C7, KSp-S6's and a KSW-15 and KSW-100 and there is absolutely no hiss or noise out of my speakers from this unit at idle or otherwise. Did I say that the Marantz is whisper quiet and I can't tell if it has a fan.....seriously.

Good luck

I have been researching for an A/V receiver for a Cornwall led surround system. Horn driven systems sound fantastic with the correct amplification and VERY harsh with the wrong amp. It's my understanding it has a smooth tube like sound.

The Marantz SR-8000 is at the top of my list. If you also enjoy 2 channel audio, this receiver may be for you.

Any other comments on the match of Marantz to Klipsch?

the 8000 is exactly the 1 i'm currently leaning toward. after having this sony, the silence of the marantz is simply amazing. of course i'd like to try it at home 1st.

Afraid,

If you are willing to buy a refurbished unit check out Accessories4less.com. They have the 8000 for $849.99 + shipping. I don't know how good a price that is compared to a new one, but it might be worth a look.

Good luck,

Q.

Don't forget about the Denon 3801 - it replaces the 3300. It doesn't have a fan and doesn't have a heat problem. It is an excellent unit. Sound & Vision has a great review of it in the current issue.
