kcurtis600
I'm looking to upgrade my R-28f's. Was looking for RP-280f or RF-7's, but came across great deal on KLH 20's. Are they compatible with reference series? CC is rp-440c and have RS-35 surrounds. Seller is running them off a KV-3 cc which he would also throw in. Thanks! wuzzzer
Assuming you mean KLF-20s? They'll be a massive upgrade over your 28Fs. Ideally you'll want the matching KLF C-7 center. You can always run a phantom center. Works perfect for me.
kcurtis600
Yes, KLF 20's (typo). Thanks Wuzzer, what is a phantom center, no center at all? And if not, until I find a KLF C-7 center, am I better using the RP-440 or picking up the KV-3?
wuzzzer
Phantom=no center. I wouldn't bother with the KV-3. The only desirable KV center was the KV-4.

I'm not running a center myself right now in my TV system and it sounds just fine but I haven't been watching any movies lately. When I was on a serious movie kick a few years back I found having a dedicated center was helpful, kept the voices where they were supposed to be no matter where I sat in the room and really helped during quiet passages keep the dialogue crisp and clear, without the center I found I would have to often times turn the volume up during quiet times then back down again during loud action scenes, kind of annoying after awhile. kcurtis600
Had seller send some pictures to me, they look a little rough.

I never get why so many sellers don't spend a little time dusting/cleaning their gear before taking photos. I usually take one photo after "cleaning" and if I see any dust/blemish I immediately address it before more photos. @kcurtis600, enjoy your new speakers and welcome to the forum. AndreG.
Flowerpots on speakers... I bet those cabinets will have some stains for shure. I´d be weary of a seller who treats their speakers as just another piece of furniture. On the other hand, if they are all good inside and sound right, the cabinets can always be fixed. Do You have a chance to listen to them before you buy?
kcurtis600
I do, but a 2 and half hour drive each way. I think I'm going to pass.
AndreG.
I feel with You, these might be good speakers, but then they are quite a drive away. Had the same thing with a receiver i was interested in lately.
