If it wasn’t such a long drive from my house to Lancaster I would buy these and rehab them. They need to have some fresh veneer and updated crossovers but at $300 they would be be worth the effort to turn.

I'm new at this so I hope you will forgive what might be a dumb question (or two or three): 

Are the serial numbers coded to indicate date of manufacture?

Other than the cosmetics what would your rehab of old Heresies include?

And, what would you do to update the crossovers?

I would replace the woofers. I would put Dave A s Smahl tweeters in, add a port to the rear back panela, rebuild the crossovers with new capacitors and convert them to Super Heresys
