I still have a cabinet which my grandfather gutted to use for storage. He removed a very small tv and got rid of it, and a tubed long wave/shortwave radio, all tubes of course. He made a rather ugly box out of 1/2 or 3/4 inch plywood and stuck the tuner in it for me to keep.

 

I would let it warm up and listen to programs from all over the world. I don't know when it was finally thrown out, probably in the late '60s.

 

At the time I didn't know that tubes would need to be replaced or that it would drift out of spec.

 

I still store stuff in the cabinet... the pic is of the small decal on the inside of one of the four doors
