prodj101
does anyone know if there is a conversion kit, or some way of changing the speaker output jacks on the back of the older Mcintosh amps from the little screws that they have to a normal binding post so they could accept a wider variety of cable? thanks. bkrop
Yea, just pay someone to solder some better output connections to your amp!
Invidiosulus
prodj101, I remember seeing a binding post adapter that had the flat spades on one side to attach to the screw type terminals. cables and connectors Part way down the page is the item below. 45-282G BANANA JACK-SPADE ADAPTER (2) When you click on it the connector is fig,9 in the picture that comes up. I don't know the size of the screws on the McIntosh so these might be too big. Peace, Josh
Allan Songer
Why not use small gold-plated spades? I use them at both ends of my Nordost speaker cable and they work JUST FINE!!!
NOSValves
45-282G BANANA JACK-SPADE ADAPTER (2) These are slightly less expensive at this site http://www.jaytronics.com/connectors.htm

Huhuru
Check 2baudio.com. Click on: Fisher Parts. Click on: Vintage Speaker Terminal Converters. Expensive but nice little converters. Huhuru
joshnich
You can also try spealunkers from Bizzy Bee Audio at http://www.2baudio.com/
sunnysal
I tried those adaptors and they did not do the trick for me. while they fit my McIntosh barrier strip spaces (and the ALK barrier strip as well) they accept either a banana plug or a stripped wire end only(smallish gauge) NOTE they will not accept ANY spades so forget about those. the spealunker looks good but I could not buy them as he only takes paypal or money order. tony
