slowjoe24 Posted November 29, 2003 Share Posted November 29, 2003 Hey Guy's, I bought the "Big One's".....................I got a new pair of RF-7's and the matching RC-7 on Friday! I also, picked up a pair of thr RCR-5's in-ceiling speakers. I will wait until I have a good weekend to do the cutting into my ceiling. As the salesguy switched between the RF-7's and the RF-35's, to me there was no compairing to do! I was sold on the sound After I have time, I will type a full review of them for those who were like me and trying to decide weather to pull the triger on the 7's. Here is what I can say so far..................Unreal!! All I have hooked up is the front's and it already sounds like I have the full surround going!! I guess it's the imaging I Honestly have never heard anything like these. Those who have said "It's like watching a new movie"......they are correct! You hear little things that you never knew where recorded into the soundtrack. I can't explain it, but I LIKE it! Oh well...............I guess you can tell I am sold on the Klipsch line of products, and espically the 7's up front! I have attached a photo....hope you can see it! Vital Posted November 30, 2003 Share Posted November 30, 2003 Believe it or not one of the songs I play the most for people when showing off my RF-7s is a song by Celine Dion called Seduce Me. If you have not heard it go DL it off Kazaa and check it out. The vocal clarity, highs and bass really shows off the speakers. As for Celine's other music I could care less. Let us know how the RCR-5 in-ceiling speakers work out (along with some picts). There have been several folks on here that seem to have taken an interests in those and would like to see an installation. Excellent system you got going there . telemundo Posted December 1, 2003 Share Posted December 1, 2003 i know this might not be the best place to bring this up....have any of you guys compared to RF7s with the Polk's RTi12s? The RF7s are the top of the Klipsch Reference series and the RTi12s are the top of the Polks' RTi series but the Klipsch RF7s cost about $600 more than the RTi12s. I've heard the RF35s and are amazed at what it's capable of and scared to hear the RF7s. I know that the RF7s are alot more sensitive than the RTi12s, so I'd need a stronger amp to drive the RTi12s to get the all the juice out of it. Has anyone here compared the RTi12s and RF7s as a A/B speaker comparision? I've heard the RF35s on a Yamaha AVR(not sure which model, but it's THX certified) and the damn thing was so loud that it brought half of the people in the store over to check it out. RTi12s that i demoed was driven with the Harman Kardon AVR630. The Polk's was alot warmer than the Klipsch, although it could be the Yamaha AVR that's making the Klipsch sound extra crisp. dkp Posted December 1, 2003 Share Posted December 1, 2003 telemundo, I haven't heard the Polk speakers you are talking about, but I can say that my RF-7's sound a bit bright with my Yamaha receiver. I think that you will find a number of posts where others have had the same opinion. I stop in at my local dealers place who is running the RF-7s from a B&K amp and then come home and listen and the difference is monumental to say the least. (I have the Yamaha 5545). Also there is a substancial break in time for new RF7's to mellow out. If they sound a little bright give it a week or 2 and you will see a difference. After talking to a Klipsch tech. he said that break in for the drivers is comparable to break in on a cars engine. Made sense to me but the technical aspects I do not understand. Do this to prove it to yourself. Listen to some recording with both high and low peaks ( measure it if possible ) and then in 2 weeks listen to it again to those specific areas. I will bet my last dollar it sounds different. Some have stated on this site that there is no break in period but, it seems your ears are not buying in. I have been told that tube amps really make these sing but at this point soild is where I have to stay for movies & music. My next upgrade will be better amplification. How long at what volumes? ---------------- That is often a point of debate. Several people do seem to think the sound "tighten's up" after a few hour to few days worth of listening. As far as "how long and what volume", don't worry about it. The first few minutes, don't crank'em up, mainly to just make sure everything is working correctly, i.e., you didn't hook up a speaker wrong or some such thing.
