m00n
Used to live in Lansing for about 6 months. Lots of rusty cars out in that area. Used to go up to St Johns and party with my step brothers, half brother and all his friends.

WMcD
We've had a mild winter here in ORD land. Saying so is tempting fate. Gil

Last tuesday it was -30 C without the windchill and with it factored in a bone chilling -47 C. Brr! Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
m00n
Good lord man. That is just hostile territory where you live. Aint that about the average temp on mars? Just think, if they had breathable air on mars, you would already be set.
CO1
I've got you all beat. We have been getting at least -30 C without the windchill and with the windchill, which are only light winds so far , it has gone down around -60 C. In another month or so it will be getting real cold.
Ray Garrison
Five inches of snow I've gotta shovel before I can get out of the driveway. It's about a degree outside. Wind is blowing. According to CNN, the temperature on Mt Washington, NH right now is -77 F. Or -60 C if you prefer...
nicholtl
-60 degrees?! I was up in lake tahoe over xmas break and my truck and it was struggling. My heater broke down, moisture got into my headlight housing and shattered my headlights, etc. etc. How does a car funtion in that weather? How do YOU function in that weather? And is there a service that paves the roads 24/7? I can't even begin to fathom that kind of cold...
michael hurd
Heater broke down? I have no heat until I get to work, a 15 minute drive on a good day. Even then it's like a cow's breath on the windshield. I drive peering out of a small area in the center of the windshield, hands freezing to the steering wheel. The old chev doesn't like the below -30 to -35 weather too much. The starter protests turning the engine over, but it usually fires up unless it floods itself. Plugging it in helps, but is not an option parked on opposite sides of the street ( calender parking ) as you can't run an extension cord across the street or even the sidewalk. CO1
Block heaters, battery blankets and timed starters are the required combination to keep a vehicle going here. I burned a half tank of gas yesterday in my Explorer and I didn't even leave my driveway. My friend got frostbite the other day when he went for a cigarette so smoking really is hazardous to your health especially if they are king size. TheEAR
With wind factor its around minus 42 Celcius here!Very hot, anyone outside will get bitten by frost quite fast.
ZAKO
My KLIPSCHORNS froze up. I had to use a ICE PICK in the VOICE COILS to get them working. I now keep them playing all day & night to keep voice coils glowing.
garymd
Cold as a witches......you get the point. Wind chills below 0 this morning. Tilmbill, You got an extra room for me. I'm ready to move south!
tillmbil
I informed the family you might show up on the door step one day. Always welcome. As a special treat I would turn on the gas jacuzzi attached to the pool. Takes about 25 minutes to hit 104 degrees. I beleive the temp is around 60 right now. This is the coldest I remember since 1994 !! You have no choice to keep the car tuned, a good battery, and pray the timing belt doesn't slip a notch. They were sluggish but both cars started so far... but rust is every car's friend here. I guess if you live and work in town, there always is the subway. No pole licking this week... nicholtl
I really bow down to you guys. 12F degrees is the lowest I've ever experienced, and I was ready to puke when I was putting the snow chains on. Any weather where I'd get frostbite just standing outside would cause me to take the next plane out!
BBB
For those of us suffering from the cold I would keep a watchful eye on your pet's while they're outside. Their paws can freeze quickly in weather like this. This is the first time I've seen my dog limp back into the house after only being outside for three minutes. After walking around in snow at these low temperatures I always wipe down her legs and paws with a warm towel. She's a very large dog so she gets 2 inch chucks of ice stuck between her toes. Remember, some pets won't know when to come out of the cold until it's too late and by then they may have already damaged their limbs or lungs. This type of cold is nothing to fool around with, that's for sure.
