Wardsweb
I just had to show you my Bottlehead Paramours. Slightly modified and with lot's of attention to detail. This picture was taken at the Lone Star Bottlehead meet held in Terrell Texas on Jan 17th.
mobile homeless
Nice work. Have you ever considered upgrading the outputs to better MQ iron? Any parts upgrades within? Seems viable considering the work put into the chassis. Throw up a shot of the internal wiring. kh
Deang
Kelly, this guy doesn't cut corners.
mobile homeless
Ummmm... I have seen his webpage and new tube amp projects. Nice work but I would have upgraded to the better iron especially after all that work in the chassis. This is just personal opinion. Like his metalwork! kh
Wardsweb
These were purpose built so I could fully document the build process as almost a stock unit. That way, other Bottlehead's would benefit from the site I'm putting up that details step by step the entire build. I also wanted to compare a stock unit against my custom 2A3's. Mods are coming for the Paramours but only after some stock break in,listening and comparisons.
3dzapper
Beautiful work Ward! Did you send all the metal out to be chromed? Or use another process? Rick
NOSValves
Luther, Awesome work ! So when do we hear how it compares to your other SET amps ? Craig

mobile homeless
I think polished aluminum is a much better option than chrome... aesthetically and electrically. Aesthetically speaking, this is nowhere more notable than a vintage motorcycle where polished alum kills the more flashy and cheaper looking chrome. It's just expensive as a bastard or a pain. kh
leok
Very nice work. I'm looking foreward to your listening results. The parafeed design permits an output transformer optimized for audio (without the DC requirement, which is taken by the inductor). For some reason, the Bottlehead designs don't get the rave reviews that some other designs get. Possibly it's a component or two? Since you're planning to tweak .. Daddy Dee
I'm impressed that alum. can be polished like that. What the cap on the transformer and other metal framework. Polished also?
Wardsweb
It's a fair amount of work but most any metal can be polished to a mirror shine. All the polished pieces you see were supplied in the standard kit. They have been treated with a combination of sanding up to 1000 grit, machine polished with white tripoli and/or hand polished with Happich Simichrome metal polish. Daddy Dee
Thanks Wardsweb. That would be accomplished in a reasonable DIY fashion. Am I following that you've got a website? Would you post the URL? Thanks. Dee
Wardsweb
Wardsweb.org Just click on a catagory and then navagate from the bar on the left hand side. The Paramour site is not live yet. Still need about a week to get all the documentation done.
sprocket
Those are fine looking Paramours. I'm always dazzled by the work you Texas boys do. Here's a link from your web-site so all can see how productive the Lone Star Bottlehead group is. http://www.wardsweb.org/LSB/ Lots of Bottlehead Mtgs in many states makes Bottlehead products a good choice. Ya can't beat this kind of fun. RB
leok
I was unter the impression that the parafeed components on the Bottlehead amps ARE Magnaquest. True? Leo
Painful Reality
The Paramour is the exeption.
