rtaylor
Removing the zenor diodes and don't know if I need a jumper between eyelets # 7 and #8 or not since they are not there? Randy
rtaylor
Randy, after considerable study on the subject I feel comfortable suggesting to you that you are not supposed to jumper eyelets 7 and 8. On the other hand the question you are surely dying to ask about the 2.5mH air coils you bought and the leads being too short to reach the terminals you want to hit (is it ok to unwrap about a half of a turn and then cinch them backup with new ties)is surely beond my meager brain to answer so you had better hope that someone comes to your rescue, Randy
Al Klappenberger
Randy, To defeat the zener diodes, simply unscrew one of them from the bracket and leave it hang or tape it up. That's all you need to do. Al K.
rtaylor
Thanks Al, putting the 1.0 bypass cap on also that you had mentioned in another thread. Did you catch the ? in the second post??
Al Klappenberger
Randy, I don't know! I confuse very easily and I have a memory like running faucet. Out the pipe and gone! If I missed commenting on something, ask me again now that's I'm awake! I have been fighting my dead website and haven't been able to think about much else! Al K. rtaylor
I feel your pain Al, computers can be cantankerous at times. I lost all the files that I'd saved from this forum and others. Bummer. Thanks for the answer by email. Thanks to others who helped too. Randy
Klipsch Employees Trey Cannon Posted February 27, 2004 Klipsch Employees Share Posted February 27, 2004 I use a polyswitch in parallel with a 200 ohm resistor in series with the positve tweeter lead. Protects the tweeter and you can not hear it unless it starts protecting...
JohnA
Randy, If you have the AlNiCo tweeter, I would not run it without some protection circuit. It only has a 2 watt continuous rating.
Piranha
So should I do something to my 76 LaScalas? Thanks
rtaylor
These are 86's and square, I'm assuming they're the mud magnets. No protection now. STD's don't scare me. I pulled the old crossovers out and put in the modded aa's and sat down to listen. While I could hear some differences in the highs the lascala's still sounded not so good. Nothing like the 76's. I had cleaned the connections on the terminal strip and now decided to clean the speakers terminals. Quess what????? One sqawker was out of phase. Been listening to them since last year. So much for my golden ear awards. I knew they didn't sound right but wow. Randy
