rloggie
I got this single last night. Anyone have a match? It's a 1955 I believe and seems to work fine. Oldest I've seen althought I know many here have or have seen older.
Tom Mobley
Looks like lacquered Mahogany, same as my '60s. The finish on mine is worse than that, much worse in some places. Please consider posting a list of the drivers in it, guys on here are always interested in the various configs of the really early models. Frzninvt
S/N 942, there is a '55 on eBay right now that is S/N 889 I think that would make a decent mate to this one if the finish is similar. Your's looks nicer though, does it have the original Stephens Tru-Sonic woofer in it? If so, nice speaker.
radiob
The old one on ebay is in Tampa, want me to check it out?
rloggie
I'll be checking the woofer in the next couple of hours. What do you people think of the price? 695-950. with the cosmetics and woofer repair needed?
seti
Is there a gallery of early model klipsch speakers ? I found this early model image in one of my archives not sure where it came from.
Frzninvt
rloggie, the guy does provide a working K-33E woofer with it which is the current woofer for the Khorn and is including the Stephens Tru-Sonic that is need of a recone. Not sure if parts are available still to recone that driver others more knowledgeable than I will have to chime in on that.
rloggie
Here's the woofer. Looks good to me
JohnA
Pretty nice! I'd think hard about building a period mono system around it.
khorn58
rloggie Is there a id paper label on the bass horn? The label on the mid horn is the serial # for the mid horn only not the whole speaker, many times the mid horn was made a few years before than the whole speaker. your trusonic driver looks like the late 50's type. Check for no's stamped in the bass horn cabnets rear wood panels. I preety good at dasting years form just the no's. This is a cool speaker your gana love it.
