3dzapper
It seems to say Type "1RB" and has AA type zener diode protection. These are a new one on me any info? This is from a pair of 1965 Khorns on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5736483438&rd=1 I did not put the pic up front because of the size and loss of detail. Frzninvt
I have seen that network before in older Khorn's it is nothing unusual. Do a search on the forum for 1RB. Someone bought a pair of Khorns this year that asked that very question.
WMcD
That sure looks like a K-Horn in the photo. I would have guessed that it was for a Rebel, solely by the lettering. Gil
Jon Anderson
I had 1RB's in my 65's. There is a thread from this time last year and John Albright details the design. Now I have new BEC AA's. I still have the 1RB's if anyone is interested.
Deang
I'm kicking this one back to the top. I'm trading email with someone right now you has some '65's. When he told me what year they were, I surmised he might be running the RB. One of his K-horns has this network, yet his other K-horn has a network marked 'RC'. I asked for info about his Klipschorns, and he came back with: My 65's do have the type 1 crossovers. One is a RB and the other is listed as a RC. The components are: Tweeters K77'sm Mids K55's - 400 horns Woofers K33J'S Crossover Frequencies 400 and 5000cps speaker serial #'s 2D237+2D259 K-D-FR'S Do you think you might be able to help? An oddity here is that he claims his Klipschorns are "16 ohms", or 16 ohm nominal impedance. So, I suggested he dump them in favor of the Type A, or AA. His response was that he wanted to keep the 16 ohm nominal impedance so that if he goes to SET, he will have more power. Uhg. I tried to explain how that really works, but I didn't make much headway. So, what's the deal with these "16 ohm Klipschorns"? Maybe he is just mistaken? Jon, I would like to take a whack at those networks. How much do you want for them? Tom Mobley
Dean, My '60 Khorns are clearly marked 16 ohm, but the drivers have 4, 16 and 8 as you would expect. THe have the Jensen K-33-J, K-55 and old style K-77 with the squared off back. I run them on the eight ohm terminals of an HF-81, seems fine. Mine have the K-500-5000 crossovers, things are huge. BEC
Tom, I think at least when built, your 60 Khorns would have had 16 ohm K-77 tweeters. Bob Crites
Deang
So, no network change unless he changes his tweeters?
