  1. That would be Oregon, not Maine. Aloha / Beaverton is Portland suburb. And I also am not affiliated with the seller nor am I parting with my Khorns
  2. Tri - Are you getting cash for airfare to watch U of O Ducks play NCAA finals in Atlanta? JA
  3. Two things caught my eye 1) Model C w/ kickplate. Isn't that unusual? 2) also, notice bass bin fronts with only two pices of bookmatched walnut veneer. Today it takes eight pieces for each front.
  4. Has anyone had an opportunity to see Lindsey Buckingham during his latest tour? He sounds great and really energized. Playing some beautiful custom guitars. Saw him last Thursday at the Newmark theater in Portland. Small (880) seat, beautiful venue. Catch him if you get a chance. The guy wrote some great songs over the years and they sound great 20 years later.
  5. Love mine - Plinth needs to be free from pitting which is a problem with these tables. Beautiful table that I could not afford in 1973.
  6. Smells funny - 2005 Khorns for sale in Portland, 2nd owner $2,500. Taking a $1,500 loss in just months?
  7. I am the original owner of my 1976 Cornwalls. I went looking at JBL 100's & 200's. After a long listening session I left with Cornwalls. Never been sorry.
  8. Someone in Portland, OR is on AudiogoN is seeking Cornwalls - http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/wtb.pl?spkrfull&1134602325 They are in my area with same zip, 97202. I thought that they might see this message and give me a PM. Another Portland Klipsch Heritage nut is always fun to find.
  9. Notice that only two pieces of veneer are used on the front bass bin of 1960's Khorns. I think four were used in '80's or earlier. Aren't most recent models using eight pieces of walnut?
  10. Hey Paul - I checked these out Saturday. Just curious how they compared to my 65's. They are very nice 1976 vintage. My feel is there is movement in the price. If someone had $2K in their hand it would go a long way to taking these home. Take care p.s. your Thorens is in great shape
  11. I always come back to long time favorites Song for Strayhorn - Gerry Mulligan / Chet Baker Kind of Blue - Miles Concierto de Aranjuez - Miles My One and Only Love - Coltrane w/ Johnny Hartman Moonlight in Vermont - Stan Getz
  12. Gary I had a local TAP Plastic make a new cover for my Thorens 125. It was simple for them. Made of thicker guage plastic than original and cost $50. They even drilled holes for hinge. I had mine made from crystal clear plastic vs. the smoked look of the orginal. JA
  13. Here is my latest. An Empire 698 w/ new Ortofon. Have three others - Love vinyl
  14. Welcome 126mhz to the forum from another Portland resident.
  15. Anyone have trouble with the size of their spindle? Of my 4 tables, the Pro-Ject and Tannoy-Seiki have no troubles with any records in my colections My Thorens 125 and Empire 698 have slightly larger shafts and some discs have trouble. Anyone have a similar problem with shaft size? Have a great night....
  16. I had 1RB's in my 65's. There is a thread from this time last year and John Albright details the design. Now I have new BEC AA's. I still have the 1RB's if anyone is interested.
  17. Portland, Oregon - Financial Reporting Manager for world's largest non-bank ATM provider.
  18. Years ago I was partial to The Adventures of Panama Red by New Riders of the Purple Sage. Double folded with great artwork / simple story inside to read while deseeding whatever. Love the Pink Floyd artwork
  19. Erik - thanks but I tried the ground trouble shooting route in March with my original posts... Two shops have have spent hours and kindly their own $$$ only to confirm the amp is a dog. Bid on it to see if they were wrong
  20. Craig - AC hum. Basicly a poorly designed product. After letting the unit sit unused for 6 months I finally had two local tube shops check out the amp in the past three weeks. Both said same thing, that they could reduce the hum and that new 6SN7's would help but not to my satisfaction. We had a post right here on this same amp back in March. Seller blames my Khorns. I'm sure my AA's from BEC are the crux of the trouble. Right. Getting rid of the wood case and laying out in new chassis would be best course. I've had contact with other people that bought the Kailin products. Same complaint. They were cheap, didn't work to their satisfaction, seller in LA won't do anything, I finally gave up. At this point I just want to cut my losses and get out while being as up front in the sale as possible. ja
  21. Thebes - I'd give a quick look at the Pro-ject product line at that price point. I have my Pro-ject set up with a Grado Reference Platinum which was as much $ as the table. I have a Thorens 125 that I swap in and love it's performance but for new the Pro-ject is a nice product. ja
