3dzapper
Ole Thebes is out on a toot with the Twins and wished that this be posted here: "First up is congratulations to Arthurs-you've won a Klipsch T-shirt! PM me with your address and it will go out in the near future. Second, I'm posting this on a Sunday but using tomorrows date because I'm switching to broadband and I may not be online for the next several days due to a scheduling mixup. For that reason I'm hoping one of you can help out and post a notice up in General about Arthurs win, and urging fokls to stop on by. Now, as many of you know, the format's simple, name of aritist/group, name of album, type of music (cd/lp etc.), and genre, rock classical, jazz etc. as best you can. As usual I'll start it off with: The Band, "Cahoots:, folk/rock, lp Although I do try to come up with lesser know works, from time to time I like to cover, and or remind, folks of musicians who have had a seminal impact on modern music. Who better qualifies than The Band. A most illustrious fusion of american folk music, a dash of country, and a whole soupcon of roots rock, these folks crafted upteen great songs. If you haven't given them a listen lately, by all means, plese do. If you haven't heard them, give them a try you will love it. So what do you have to share?" ben.
The Last Waltz is in rotation on IFC right now. Some very musical moments. Check Muddy Waters (Mannish Boy), Neil Young (Helpless-oh my lord, what a beautiful song with Joni doing backups), and Bob Dylan (Forever Young from Planet Waves) out, especially. Van Morrison does a great Bruce Lee impression, too... I just taped it in S-VHS a couple nights ago. Cool movie. Scorsese is honest in its composition. Marvel
The Band was surely one of the greats. Loose and tight at the same time. From Big Pink onward. Even the Basement tapes with Dylan, as bad as the audio is, has great moments.
