rmt
Does it seem odd there is no Beethoven in that bundle?
maxg
I am not sure I have the capability to rip records to CD - I will have to play with that. I couldn't help myself - and there is a lot here I am not familiar with either - at a buck a piece I thought it a good opportunity to try some things out. No Beethoven? Well no - I own most of it - all the more famous stuff anyway. All symphonies (3 times or more), all concertos, buckets of quartets, his opera (with all 4 intros) etc. etc. Trying to break out into some more modern stuff - beyond the romantic period - so far - so good. I'll let you all know how the rest of the listening goes....thus far 7 played - 7 mint or near mint - all CBS records entitled "Great Performances" with covers like look like newpaper headlines. PErformances certainly good - recordings variable - done with some kind of Dolby recording system - not bad - not going to win any awards though. I picked up about a dozen of these -the rest being more normal issues. There will be some duds no doubt - we will have to see what proportion. maxg
Just an update having sampled about 40 of the disks so far. HOLEY MOLEY!!! Did I get some bargains here or what!!!! Just 2 duds thus far - but some of the records I picked up - Mecuries, Colombia 6 eyes (stereo and mono ones), the best Musical Heritage recordings I have ever come across, RCA's in bunches - even some Angel's that sound good! I love this aspect of buying vinyl - you just never know what you are going to get and when it works out YIPPEE!!!!
colterphoto1
Glad that worked out well for you Max, the price was certainly right. Must have been one heck of a weekend cleaning and spinning all that vinyl. One day I'll have to get through all these $1 LP's that Gary has been sending me. They're starting to take up a lot of space! Michael
maxg
"They're starting to take up a lot of space!" Oh boy - do I know that problem! I think I am gonna have to clear out some more of the old rock collection soon....
