Yesfan70
Just wondering what the retail value of a pair of KG5.5 were back in the 90s. I think I paid around $650/pr for mine. I was skimming through Ebay and saw where this guy has a Buy It Now price for $1250! Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5789405897&category=61378&rd=
T2K
If I remember correctly retail was around $1000 a pair. Keith
kentmjohnson
I saw that on Ebay as well. $1250 for KG5.5's? I paid a $1000 back in 96 or whatever year that was. The guy must be crazy. He will have a hard time getting more than $400.
Dylanl
I paid 350.00 I think for mine. The only reason I got them that cheap was because the owner was moving and could not take them along. They were decent towers but the crossovers looked like they could use a make-over.
Dylanl
Ysefan 70 did you ever post on Sound & Vision forum?
D-Rex
You have to love this quote: "I paid just under $1500 a piece for these speakers, here is a chance to get some awesome speakers at a huge discount!!" So, he paid $3,000 for this pair of speakers?!? Let's just hope not! D
jacksonbart
They are great sounding speakers, but that seems a bit pricy.
oldtimer
This is off topic but have you heard a decent recording of Fragile? The vinyl I have is an Italian pressing and just like all the others I have gone through sounds distorted at times, like maybe the studio guy screwed up but it never got fixed. The actual vinyl sounds fine, no pops, clicks, noise, etc.
Yesfan70
Wow, I didn't think they went for a grand brand new back then. Thought it would be less. I figured they were cheaper than the KLF line. Didn't the KLF20s or the 30s go for about $1200/pr? I think, correct me if I'm wrong, that was the line that replaced the KGs. Dylan, Yes, I still hang out at the S&V forums. Somebody's got to keep those guys in line, though I think it's really the other way around. Oldtimer, I love the sound of Vinyl, but don't have much of a collection or a good turntable. I do have Chris Squire's Fish Out of Water on Vinyl (as well as CD), but all my Yes stuff is on CD. The DVD-A of Fragile is pretty good. Christopher L. Berry
I bought my KG 5.5'S back in 96 and they were $900. I bought a pair of KLF-20s two years later and they were about $1500.
