ironwoods
Here's one from another famous pair.......the Glimmer Twins quite coincidentally. If you don't have the disk with you, it's alright, as the lyrics are spoken and only the chorus is sung, so just read out loud so everyone can hear. FAR AWAY EYES I was driving home early sunday morning (Saturday in yer case) through Bakersfield(or whatever that sign yous just past says) Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station And the preacher said, you know you always have the Lord by your side And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran Twenty red lights in his honor Thank you jesus, thank you lord I had an arrangement to meet a girl, and I was kind of late And I thought by the time I got there shed be off Shed be off with the nearest truck driver she could find Much to my surprise, there she was sittin in the corner A little bleary, worse for wear and tear Was a girl with far away eyes (chorus) So if youre down on your luck And you cant harmonize Find a girl with far away And if youre downright disgusted And life aint worth a dime Get a girl with far away eyes Well the preacher kept right on saying that all I had to do was send Ten dollars to the church of the sacred bleeding heart of jesus Located somewhere in los angeles, california And next week theyd say my prayer on the radio And all my dreams would come true So I did, the next week, I got a prayer with a girl Well, you know what kind of eyes she got (chorus) So if youre down on your luck I know you all sympathize Find a girl with far away eyes And if youre downright disgusted And life aint worth a dime Get a girl with far away eyes [ap]
nicholtl
"The Real Thing" - Faith No More - from The Real Thing "Under A Glass Moon" - Dream Theater - from Images and Words "God is in the Radio" - Queens of the Stone Age - from Songs for the Deaf "Fake Plastic Trees" - Radiohead Griff, I love your taste! I've never heard of The Real Thing, but Dream Theater, Radiohead, and QOTSA!!! You know how hard it is to find people who are able to list those 3 bands in the same sentence??? Griffinator
You don't know Faith No More? What a great "forgotten" band. Their only major hit was "Epic" - from same album - but they released 3 other albums chock full of great heavy rock songs after that.... thebes
The Twins are loving the tunes. I've been able to find about half of them so far, by stoping at various stores. Great suprise today, we hit a Sunday flea market at the side of the road. I'm flipping through some lp's (got some nice condition rock) and out of the corner of my eye I see The Twins stumbling towards me carry a big hunk of metal between them with big grins on their faces. They both exclaim at once "Thebes,it's got tubes and it only cost $10 !" Well what do you know, not a Marantz 8b or anything but an old Bogen PA mono amp, Model No. MO-100A. Under the dust it looks to be in good shape , 100 watts and can be switched between Speech and Music. Uses four 8417 power tubes, and a single 7247. Can't wait to get it home and fiddle with it. Probably have some questions for the gang once I've looked it over. I'm very proud of the gals, nice to know they think about me now and then. They are very excited now so I'll be needing some more music to feed the energy, so keep'em coming.
dbflash
David Lindley "Twango Bango II". Just drove back from the Gulf Coast and listened to this CD over and over. Best CD I've heard in a long time. I met a guy who lost everything in the hurricane. All he has to his name fit in the back of a small pickup truck. He had about 5 CD's left from his collection. As he was pulling out Thursday morning as my sister and I were saying goodbye to him, he handed me this CD and told us to think of him while we listened to it. Good Luck with the twins.
