formica
A little veneer and some grille cloths, doen'st look so tough to me. Quite simple to add a new front over the existing one... The only challange is the MF and HF horns... Do you go with a 2way as PWK intended or a 3way like the pro version. Klipsch drivers and crossovers or DIY? I think it's all within your reach... BTW, lots of this has been discussed in Odds and Mods... Rob
seti
colter Do you remember if that top horn was actually wood or was it made from some other material?

DrWho
and no solid conclusions either [] It's all about compromise... [] lol ok fine...no acceptable 2-way compromises as of yet [] But seriously, I don't see the problem going with the huge PA horn if it sounds good and the dispersion is acceptable for home use...Just tuck the whole thing into the corner and build a huge acoustically transparent false wall in front. Or even cooler flushmount the whole thing [H] Which brings up another point...I think there would be significant advantages to housing the big top horn in a cabinet so that any vibrations from the driver and horn don't make their way out to the front. I thought the whole reason klipsch hasn't come out with a home version is because they can't find an acceptable sounding 2-way design. I would question the idea behind a 2-way design anyway because it would really increase FMD. I think more time needs to be spent in the direction of co-axial designs (which I've got many ideas for, but I don't know the rules behind flare rates yet so I can't present any models that I know will work). 6foot8
Below is a pic of the "jubilee" with the extra-large treble horn, IMO the best-sounding speaker at our Hope visit. See Cornwall III for pics and discussion. Mine has the Grand HF driver as well.
6foot8
A little veneer and some grille cloths, doen'st look so tough to me. I'm seriously thinking about doing this! Michael Michael, Why bother with all that effort for a little veneer and cloth, isn't it really all about the sound? The do look very "business like" no doubt about that...which appeals to me anyway. I was never at all bothered by the textured black finish on the horns or the exposed metal bracketry for the 402 MF and the Grand HF. Only the structural integrity of the design, craftsmanship and the performance are of any consequential importance to me. The WAF was no issue at all especially when she inherited my La Scalas for her system. I don't think there are any golden ears in my household but I have never heard anything but "wow", "impressive" or "incredible" used to describe the clarity, soundsatge, presentation, detail and PUNCH from anyone who has listened to them in my home. I have owned everything in the Hertiage lineup except Belles over the last 18 years and can say in my experiences with all of these products with both tube and solid state power that the Jubilees (all things being equal) are without peer and that my current system is by far the most impressive sounding overall that I have ever owned. It just needed to be finished off as far as looks. We listened to 2 different Jubilees and they both had different HF horns and both were incredible. The look on everyones face while we were listening to them was priceless.
edwinr
I think the new Klipschorns look great in the pics. The new La Scala will take some getting used to. I like the cherry finish. I guess I'll have to see it in the flesh to make my mind up.
seti
Edwin, The new Scala is very beautiful in person. I don't think you would be dissapointed. It's just a beefier construction and prettied HF cabinet. The veneer is superb they did a great job. I just hope they are going to get some floorspace across America. Apple used to have a similar problem getting their product to customers.
MC275
How much do the Pro Series Jubilee's cost? Do they need to be placed in corners like Khorns? Thanks.
formica
They are about 3400$US each i believe... or 6800$ a pair. 6foot8 should be able to confirm if this is correct...
Deang
$6000 for the Jubilee system, $3100 for the KHJ-LF portions.
Deang
There's probably been a dozen Jubilee threads over the last year across the forum. A thorough examination has been given to it many times over in Technical. Have you guys been sleeping? Buy the bottoms, a set of B&C DE750's, a pair of 700Hz tractrix wood horns -- and call it a day.
