boa12
how do you have it mounted - vertically or horizontal? anybody know the degrees dispersion of the horn(s) vertically (horizontal when turned on side)? which fronts you have it in between? I'm thinkin' a SINGLE Heresy III would be fine in between the '84 Cornwalls I.5 w/ just a 14ft wide front wall. I have an omni-mount for the LCOS (LCD-like) TV that holds up to 80lbs. my only concern is the dispersion alignment when the heresy is turned on side - horizontal, & what the normal verticle dispersion of the horns are, when then used as horizontal, in my set-up. thanks! J.4knee
I am running a HII laying horizontally on top of my Mitsubish DLP and it works fine for HT, it gets dwarfed by my La Scala's if I crank it, but for the most part it does a good job. I just gotta get off my duff and finish my Split La Scala center.
Malcolm
I have a single Heresy on its side for a center. All the others are Heresys in the normal orientation. IIRC the dispersion patter in something like 90° horizontal by 40° vertical. So, rotate that by 90° for a Heresy on its side. In my application, I cannot hear a noticeable difference between the two orientations.
boa12
thanks guys! what's the distance between your fronts (assuming your center is exactly in the middle)?
Frzninvt
Find a vertical Cornwall, lay it on its side and use it as the TV stand and you will be all set.
Cal Blacksmith
I have a modded and upgraded H1 on it's side between two Fort'e 1s. The mains are about 10 feet apart and the H1 is centered between them. We sit pretty much on axis with the center so dispersion is not a problem. In HT and Music, it sounds great. Malcolm
My center is about 6 feet from both the left and right speakers. FWIW I have a very slowly maturing project to build a custom center with the horns in the normal orientation (actually, I think the way it will finally be built will allow the horns to be vertical or horizontal depending on what is needed). dr-dezibel
If you only can put it vertical, do so. If not - don't worry. I had my Heresy on it's side above TV first. New furniture and a frontprojector made it possible to put the Heresy upright and it sounds a little bit better. The difference is noticeable but not as critical as you might think. boa12
thanks guys! DR: noticable IS critical here. [] frz: don't think that'll work....(see below) [] think I'll just get an Academy. which, again not to look gift horse in mouth, why doesn't Klipsch resurrect the Academy along w/ the Cornwall III? eq_shadimar
I ran one for a long time between my Cornwalls as a center. Properly balanced it was fine for movies but a tad lacking for 5.1 high resolution music (not because it is a bad speaker). It just ran out of steam a lot quicker than the Cornwalls so the system was out of balance. There are older pictures of it on my web site if you are interested. boa12
thanks guys - eq & tom, great to see you guys again. I think I'm definitely on the mission for the holy grail Academy, as I can't do what you're doin' w/ an rptv, tom. besides, I already bought the omni-mount at CC anyway. :-) what are those on the front sides there, tom? could they be....CORNWALLS? excellent! customsteve01
Hey Boa, I sent you a PM but I guess you haven't seen it yet. Where did you get the sony stand for your TV? I didn't see it on the website where you got your TV. I was talking with a saleman the other day at a high end HT store and he said the price of the Sony is going to drop $500.00 at the end of the month. I know thats not what you want to hear but I am waiting to see what the web prices do. Steve
boa12
steve, sorry, I picked up your last PM on my email & replied to you there. is it on your email? it was a longer dissertation, but in a nutshell - I got it (SUGW12) at Circuit City after getting them to knock it from $500 to $400 over the phone w/ a Super there before my arrival. yes, CC & BB WILL negociate down. you just have to call or talk directly to a Super, & it doesn't hurt to be well armed w/ an outstanding net price, &/or play them against each other. .[]
customsteve01
I must have missed your e-mail or it may have gotten overlooked in a e-mail cleaning that I have to do real often, they don't give us mush space here at work for e-mail. I had a guy a Sears quate me 400.00 for the stand the other day. still can't decide btween the 50 or 60 inch model. We sit right at 10 feet from the screen and I just don't know which one i want to go with. Steve

I tried one, even two Heresys between CWs. I was not satisfied until I got a CW center (vertical, on its side; but I think horizontal on its side would also work fine). boa12
"I had a guy a Sears quate me 400.00 for the stand the other day." I'd take that now, as they're hard to find. course, in a mo. or 6 they could be had for $300. ;-) the main watchin'/listenin' couch here is 14-15', & it's great. some seats are only about 6 & they're great too. hell, 6" is great. you'd be fine w/ the 50. just move the couch forward if you'd like. ;-) side note: these new SXRD come w/ the settings pretty well good already, but you really should hire a pro setup/calibrator person. then again, I did, & he's still trying to get the codes/set-up manual. boa12
seadog, nice!, but I've decided against mounting a Cornwall on the wood frame wall behind the TV, so it will be an Academy. not that they're that good. ;-)
eq_shadimar
Those swivel tv shelves that mount on the wall make awesome Heritage (or Academy) center speaker platforms. They are only $80 or so. Laters, Jeff
boa12
eq, you mean for a 100+ lbs Cornwall? I got that Omni-Mount (actually also at C-City when I got the TV stand) to put the (smaller up to 80lbs) on top of the lcd-like RPTV. was thinking current C-7 then, but now dif in Academy. sorry, I'm spinning here now, but at least they're smaller circles.
