merkin
I think the guy down the hall had one like that when I was in college. Don't remember the exact numbers on it, but I remeber the rolling tuner control and colors. I knew nothing about stereo then but boy did it sound good. This was mid seventies. Am I all wet on the age of it. Maybe it was a different marantz.
sputnik
I contacted the seller yesterday afternoon after seeing this post. It looks like a good deal with the case and all. The emails on my end have been slow for some reason, I hope it works out.
sputnik
Dang. It looked like we had struck a deal on this and I was getting the MO ready. Then I get an email from the seller saying that he underpriced the unit and he's going to sell it on ebay instead. He said I could have it for the opening price of $499. I don't want it that badly but is it still worth it?
CaptnBob
I've got one, it's an OK unit, probably a cut above the 2270-2245 line. Priced for a breathtaking $1,000 (later $1,200) in the early seventies. Pretty smooth for second generation solid state, but somehow doesn't seem as "airy" as some other contemporary units. The scope is fun to watch. You may run out of line level inputs. This was an era when Marantz had some significant reliability problems, although if it's lasted this long, odds are it's ok. Repairs can be pricey. $499 seems a bit high for a thirty five year old fifty watt per channel receiver. However I have seen them go for substantially more on ebay. thebes
Oh well, if he changes his mind I'll be happy to pick up for you. I live near McLean, Va where this guy lives.
sputnik
Hey Thebes, thanks for the nice offer and thanks for posting the ad too. I might still go for it at his new price but it looks like it could use a good cleaning and who knows what else. Here's a link to the ebay auction. I'm really looking for a nice 2600 (like everyone else out there) but this Model 19 would be a great project and consolation prize.
thebes
Don't get carried away. At his starting price there may be no takers. Don't forget this guy has already welched on you once. If his word to you is no good you might not want to trust him as to it's condition.
Johnny dB
It may not sell. Not much of description there. He could of at least turned it on and got a pic. At the very least he could've wiped some of the dust off the cabinet. I'm with Thebes on this one, if he backed out he's a ******; I wouldn't deal with him.
