Jeff Matthews
Good 4 U, Jay. Worst case is you'll know not to buy it again. Best case is you'll enjoy it. Let us know.
J.4knee
Well it did not totally suck, it was tolerable but that was about it. I'd leave on the shelf 9 out of 10 times.
Jeff Matthews
Oh, well.... [] You tried it, and now, we know. If you're a conoisseur, tell me what you know about the quality and value of a 1985 Vintage Bereich Bernkastel Riesling from the Mosel Saar Ruwer region. The information on the net seems sparse. J.4knee
Generally the words wine connoisseur and myself don't collide in the same sentence/thought. The only way I'd be close to a Sommelier is if I bumped into one. I do however enjoy the stuff I have a fairly good idea of what I like. My wife and I are considering joining one of the local winery's for tasting lessons and such. So to answer your question you'd be far better off contacting Allan Songer. oldtimer
Jeff it is or was a very good example of a dry Riesling. I can't say how one that old would taste, they are usually consumed younger.
Moderators dtel Posted February 9, 2006 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2006 What about a bottle of Crown Royal from 1952. Or a 1 gallon bottle of Old Grand Dad at least 25 years old. Had both about 25 years, grandfather gave me both not a drop missing, I do like Crown Royal but never tasted the other.Does time make them better? DrWho
For example, alot fo the store-branded alkaline batteries you see are the EXACT same batteries as made by Duracell or Eveready. The stores sub out production and packaging to the big names, who enclose the SAME high grade product in a generic package. I wouldn't be too sure about the batteries....we did some field testing of every brand of battery you can think of at my church because we use a ton of wireless mics and monitors. And there were huge differences between the different types....on the order of hours. For our situation we got the best performance from the Duracell Ultras. Most of the no-name brands would last maybe 30 minutes in these mics...maybe they just don't repackage the higher end stuff.... But ya - that doesn't mean people don't go around selling more expensive products in a cheaper package. You see it all the time in the food market (the funny thing is I'd swear they tasted different too, even though I know they're identical....)
