seti
The problem as I see it is music labels are making music just to make money instead of people who love music producing bands they really love. I have been buying alot off of indie labels and they really care about the bands they produce. I have also found lots of music on Peter Gabriels Real World Music label. I have become addictied to Japanese Rock/Punk/electronic sort of bands lately like P-Model,Polysics,Ex-Girl and Hi-Posi. I think I like them more not being able to undretstand the lyrics. If anyone wants to see something interesting I am going to see Ex-Girl in Denton,Tx 3/15 and Polysics in Dallas,Tx 3/14 should be intersting and different. Marvel
We have a pretty good used CD/DVD store here in Chattanooga. It's been here for years. I mostly just go through the bins to see people I know of already or something that I just want to try. Most of the CDs run around $7-8, so you aren't out much and you can return them if you don't like them. Just picked up all acoustic album by Mike Marshall and Chris Thile. All mandolin and mandocello duets. It is smokin' good stuff. Staying in the player for now. From Charlie Parker to JSBach, they run the gamut. Pretty good stuff, but I am not shopping too often. Gilbert
Gilbert, We are about the same age , so i am 42 ..... ofcourse it isn't that old !![] And yes , it is jimi playing at my Avitar . I am looking for some acoustic guitar blues from the old days . I don't know any names . Maybe Robert Johnson.... Bennyboy Try giving Johnny Lang's first album a listen "Lie To Me". You'll like it. You may also wanna give Kenny Wayne Sheppard "Ledbetter Heights" (or something like that). But definitely listen to Lang's 1st. recording. He's just a kid, but man he can make that guitar wale. It's not all acustic's, but it's good stuff IMHO.

classichits
For me as a DJ I have to try to keep up. I bye my music from Promo Only. I get there Hitz Radio cd. It comes out once a month. It is normally the top 20 songs of the month. In the last ten years, I can honestly say that there is no new bands that i would listen to over and over. I am hooked on the classics. Just today I listen to Boston's 3rd album Third Stage on vinyl. I am glad that bands that I grew up with are still cranking out the tunes. For example the Stones. Don't get me wrong, there are new bands making good music out there, just not for me to listen to everyday.
DrWho
Aw bum, am I the only one that checked "i listen to equipment not music and use the same cds over and over (3.2%)"? [] I meant it a bit sarcastically because I'm yet to find more bands that I really enjoy other than Nightwish...I love classical music, but can't get past the pompous arrogant attitude and obsession with technique in the music and I also love heavy metal, but too much of it is all about technique and they forget about the music. I have very peculiar tastes and I've been hunting for that one perfect sound that I'm yet to hear....Nightwish just comes the closest to combining everything I love. I'm almost to the point where I'm thinking of switching over to a music major so I can start making my own music (haha, and really scare the crap out of you old guys) [] But ya, I've probably listened to every song I own at least a few hundred times...I listened to century child and once each for 3 months straight on repeat. I'm yet to grow tired of it too... All I gotta say is it sucks to have grown up with "trained ears" - I would give it all up to go back to enjoying music on crappy bose speakers. It's so hard to find music that just pulls me into the right mood for listening....and that's one of the reasons I love hanging out with Colter - his addiction to music is contagious and I find myself loving music I normally hate. The psychology of music is a most interesting concept. But ya, when in the right mood I love listening to the music and I can go for hours when in that mode...but it happens oh so rarely. It's so retarded...I've got a really nice system in my apartment and I barely turn it on. Though when I do - I really enjoy it.
