Chris,

As far as I can tell the only difference is the 75A is black, maybe to match the other A series where the 75 is trimmed in silver. The 75 does have the 1/4" inputs and the XLR balanced inputs. The amp sounds great as is with nothing needed. The only service this amp has seen since I had it was to drive the tweeter of my Khorns.

Rigma,

PM me if you like

I don't foresee any big problems with it not being an A series. I just don't want to have to do any service and I thought it was a newer amp.

Can I run unbalanced into the XLR inputs? I am using unbalanced XLR on all of my pro gear and would like to stick with the same stuff.

Just to mention, Rigma, that I've been bi-amping

with a couple of Crowns for years. A DC 300A strapped for mono

does the bottom with a D150A doing the mids and tops with a Crown VFX2

doing the crossover points. The top speakers are the Heresys and

the bottom is the sub cabinet with 2 KEF B300 12" woofers. I have

the xovers set for about 100 hz.

I've got one other DC300A strapped for mono doing

the other KEF sub with the HT setup with the Yammie RXV1300 and the

RF3s.

Years ago, I actually was tri-amping with three

Crowns using the VFX2 for an adjustable mid to hi point and a dbx

subharmonic synthesizer set at 120 doing the bass. Then, (before

Klipsch) I was using KEF components (my subs are DIY leftovers from

that phase and I still love them - actually, in the fall, I just

scored a couple of KEF Cadenzas in a Value Village find - really

an outstanding speaker but thirsty for clean power).

There's a lot of advantages to having your own

adjustable xover points and adjustable volume for different

drivers. (Lots of disadvantages too).

Biggest advantage is the power where you need it.

Biggest disadvantage is hum and shorts from too many

cables, dirty pot contacts and risk of meltdown by doing something dumb.
