Frzninvt
While I do like and prefer the older marine grade plywood versions of Klipsch speakers myself, it is no secret that MDF is a better and more dense material for building speakers with. How many subwoofer boxes have you seen made of plywood? None! Plywood and standard hardwood's resonate like crazy and are NOT a good choice for building speakers with. While they are not as durable and are susceptible to moisture the density of the MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is much better suited for speaker enclosures. Anyone that knows anything knows that. From a performance standpoint the Heresy II is superior to the original versions of the Heresy, the highs are more extended, and the bass is improved as well. The Heresy III further improves on the very successful design. I see that you also never mentioned in your DBX SF1-A speaker auction that the SFC-1 controller came WITH the speakers and is REQUIRED for proper operation of them how honest and forthright is that? Even after I told you about it you failed to include it. Still don't believe me I will be happy to email you a copy of the user manual for the DBX SF1-A's since I happen to have one for the pair that I used to own. Oh! I almost forgot the DBX SF1-A's are made from walnut veneered MDF and they sold for $3000 new so I suppose that makes them crap too right? Funny you did not mention that they were made from that crappy "masonite" anywhere in your auction text. Those that think that they know it all make it more difficult for those of us that do! Kriton
You know, I have waited several days to repsond to this, since you seem to single out my post, because I wanted to make sure that I didn't come across any more combatitive than you, since you originally posted that you would not post here again because ll we wanted to do was fight. Apparently, that is what YOU want to do. I will, if I may, use your own overblown CAPS to prove my points, so that you may with your amazing intellect, slow down enough from your speed reading to COMPREHEND what I am saying. First, it is MDF, not "MFD" which I must assume is your sincere attempt at humor, or just bad typing or ignorance. You failed to answer my very first question, which was, "DO YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE SELLING...?" I guess not, since that one was too hard for you to respond to...so how bout this one - My speakers could be make of dirt, and if they sounded good, I would still buy them. Beleive it or not I have several sets of speakers with plywood, and some with MDF, and while I prefer the ply, I also know that my RF-7's are MDF and can rock, so can my Heresy's. Be that as it may, for what they do and the price I paid for them, these brand new speakers were a bargain in this day and age. By the way, I said that I have never SEEN, not that I had never HEARD of all wood speakers, but I have seen quite a few pairs of allegedly phenomenal speakers over the years, and guess what? They were made of MDF, the ones that most recently come to mind (because I will be basking in their shadow this weekend at Arts place) are Dunlavys, which flagship speaker in 1996 was $25k per pair, and which were made of, you guessed it, MDF. Dunlavy Signature SC-VIs were over 6' tall and 530 lbs. Each. Heck even the Watt-Puppy, allegedly the most popular speaker over $10k is made of a form of MDF, of course a proprietary blend of this and that (to justify the enormous pricetag)...but they aren't real wood bud. B&W, plywood - Meridians - ply and MDF, the list goes on and on...So you are telling me that Cains (which I have never seen and which have one speaker I think?) and Fabers (very pretty Italian works of art) are just all that is out there worth a damn? Some folks would say that is pretty stupid. I think I would too. So the next time you want to say that I don't know what I am talking about, try not to compare Klipsch Heresy 2's (purchased for $545.00 a pair) and Sonus Fabers (how much a pair - certainly more, you would agree?) as support for MDF speakers being crap, ok...that just makes you look...well...pathetic. Kind of like cars, the model A was a well built car, solid and slow - I bet the car you drive is made of plastic and aluminum and is comparatively pretty fast - I have a preference of which one I would like to drive, but you can have the model A. You be a businessman, the best you can be, but leave the whole mysterious speaker quality electronics thingy to those of us who actually listen to the things, ok? You want to take advantage of your customers, you go right a head - and if you can justify being a *&%$ in the name of savvy business, then good for you - but at the end of the day, when the customers are gone and you are alone, you are still just a *&%$. Oh and by the way, some people, me included, beleive it is just plain DUMB to post your full name on an open forum on the Internet, (I particularly LOVED your Amazon review a week or so ago on the Orb compact disc but I thought you were little harsh on Kirsty Hankshaw a while back - and by the WAY, how do like living that close to Providence College, get a lot of students ramming around there on Lyndhurst?) but you just knock yourself out MARK, or is it the fictitious name Soundbug? I just am not sure...But I tell you this, pencil D, I am not hiding anywhere, I am right here...but I don't suggest you try to flex your overly righteous puny little keyboarding muscles, because lifting all this MDF garbage has made me pretty beefy. Mike Lindsey
Some good stuff here, fellas, keep it up. Been some good reading for a lazy Friday at work. [] I would also like to say that this fellow Soundbug just might be the biggest tool I have ever seen post on this board. Please do everyone a favor and take your righteous attitude elsewhere. We'll do just fine without you... Mike
Clarence
I love this forum. And my H3's. That I paid retail for from a "real businessman"
jt1stcav
It's simply amazing just how ignorant this soundbug really is...loudspeaker manufacturers from around the world use MDF for their cabinets, and it's not just Americans that buy them either. Do us all a big favor, soundbug...don't go away mad, just go away! A so-called businessman like yourself we certainly don't need here.
