jorjen
Anyone paired a Rotel amp. with Heritage? Thinking about an RB-1090 with La Scalas. I know, I know, way more power than needed, but....
busterfree
I have used a Rotel RB980BX with JMA Merlin and Forte II with good results.
Fish
As you prolly know many run Rotel w/rf's,the 1090 is a kick arse amp(sure maybe more than needed) and it should be outstanding w/heritage too.Well worth an audition just for perspective. jorjen
My take is that it will probably be a nice combo. Unfortunately due to my location, I will have to purchase without audition.
Fish
If you do purchase you should be able to get 20% off new.If you buy used just get it at a good price and you'll be able to get your money back anytime.I can't think of a reason you would not like it but who knows? The worst thing that could happen is after listening for a while you decide to sell and lose maybe $200 on a new one if you keep it a year. Having said all that its always a good idea to try any local dealers amps in your price(if you haven't lately).
Fortissimo
I find most amplification isn't the problem. I mean, with Klipsch a competant 50 watt solid state amp will do wonders. The source is just as important or more so. I could take an amp that is considered bright (B&K maybe?) but use a tube preamp or tube cd player and it will smooth out. I never considered Rotel harsh anyway.
rcarlton
I have used a Rotel RB-980BX with a Denon AVR-3200 and K-horns with terrific results. Now trying McIntosh amps. The Rotel is in the closet waiting on an upstairs system in which it will power Advent 5002's.
greg928gts
Hi Jorden, long time . . . I used to have a Rotel preamp that I just loved the sound of on my Khorns. Later I learned that it was actually kind of "thin" sounding. Not in a bad way and not necessarily meaning less bass. Just not as full sounding as other setups. It reminded me of an NAD receiver I had one time. Greg
jorjen
Hey Greg, You know, I was just thinkin' about you yesterday, wondering where you had been. Nice to hear from you. Yeah, I am going to try a rotel amp with the preamp section of my MA-6200 for a bit. I found a dealer within 90 miles from me that is giving me 30% off of the price of either an RB-1090 or an RB-1080. I will see how it goes then decide what to do regarding a preamp, etc. No more tubes for awhile I am afraid.
