Chicago_Pete
I see a lot of guys posting rare jazz LP's, how about some bizarre stuff? The Motels, YIKES!
Frzninvt
The Motels spooky? Strange maybe. You want spooky try Nazareth's LP covers from Expect No Mercy, Hair of the Dog, and others. Really evil looking is Uriah Heep's Abominog LP Iron Maiden had some pretty wild ones as well.
oldbuckster
Blue Cheer INSIDE/OUTSIDE every drug you can think of on that cover.................What's with all the mushrooms on Allman Brothers albums.................That is the one thing I miss about vinyl, the Album cover Art.............How many albums have you bought because the cover was great? What were those white chunks on Dave Mason's ,Let It Flow?
seti
Gotta love Beefheart album covers almost gives you a clue as to the music inside.
colterphoto1
Not spooky in a graphic sense, but that the chair Keith Moon is sitting on is labeled 'not to be taken away' and that that occurred after this album was released. Always gives me chills to look at that one. And you have to love his sense of comedy with the riding outfit. Keith loved outfits!
pmsummer
I won't post it, but the cover for Throbbing Gristle's second LP, "D.O.A.: Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle", is the kind of stuff that got Pete Townsend arrested on suspicion. Spooky, creepy, sicko....and that's just the "music". And yes, I own a vinyl copy from my youth. But it's put WAY out of sight.

colterphoto1
Duke, sorry I was wrong about Wetton, Greg Lake was bassist. In The Court Of The Crimson King was the debut album of legendary prog-rock band King Crimson and arguably the greatest prog-rock album aswell. Released in 1969 it took the genre to a complete new level and the band elegantly blends Rock, Jazz and Classic Music into a wonderful concept that became a bluprint for latter Prog Albums. They were never afraid to to their own thing either and in the classic "20 Century Schizoid Man" they had a lenghty middle section with jazz that didn't resemble anything from the rest of the song. Although King Crimson never became a mainstream band with countless of success, they remain a classic Prog Rock band that always continues to do their thing with artistic music and serious lyrics, much more serious then most other prog bands. They are still active today but with many member changes. King Crimson were formed in 1969 with Guitarist virtuoso/Producer Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald (Keyboards), Greg Lake (bass/vocals) later member of (Emerson, Lake, Palmer) Michael Giles (Drums) and Peter Sinfield (Vocals). This album was their debut and most famous album aswell. This is progressive rock at it's best and a bluprint for what was coming, other then it's diffrent musical influences, it also got poetic lyrics and a very serious aproach on the society. The cover of the very scared man is also one of my favorites and a classic in terms of album covers.
flannj
You could choose almost any Butthole Surfers album, but Electriclarryland came first to mind -
Myhamish
This is supposed to be an animated ITCOTKC gif if it runs. Apparently, the McDonald and Giles album, Birdman, had a lot of tunes that were out-takes from the ITCOTKC and were released as a separate recording. Still remember the first time I heard ITCOTKC - downtown Burlington in a little record shop, when I was just recovering from being banged up in a car accident - and that music still blows me away.
