elpaso ray
Unfortunately, after 25 years, the woofer on my Cornwall tore and needs replacement. 2 questions: 1. Where can I find a replacement woofer? 2. Is the replacement woofer such that it will have an effect on the sound thereby having to replace both woofers? Any help here is greatly appreciated. I sorely miss playing my music! Ray

Klewless
Can't you just get it (them) reconed? For a lot less $$$ than new replacements!
djk
Another choice is to have them re-coned with 15162 kits. Most shops that do this will only charge about $60 each, so you will end up with a matched pair of 'new' drivers (for about the cost of one new driver that may or may not match the other). klipschaholik
Does anyone know somebody who sells the kits? I've got several K33's I'd like to attempt reconing.
BEC
Dennis mentioned a kit for the K-33 earlier. When I checked with Eminence, they told me that the only kits they made that were right for the K-33 were exclusively made for Klipsch. They said that the only 4 ohm voice coil they made at that time was made for Klipsch for the K-33, so any other kit would have an 8 ohm voice coil. So, if you want a genuine Klipsch K-33 kit, you should be able to buy one from Klipsch or since I probably no longer think I might get into reconning, I would sell you a few of the Klipsch kits I have if you want some. You can go to this thread to see what is in the kit and see me installing one of the kits. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/432373.aspx Bob Crites bobcrites@mac.com

elpaso ray
I think I'll go this route. There is a professional shop here in town that will do the job. Thanks all for your help. By the way, has anyone auditioned the new Cornwalls? Are they as good as the originals? Ray
klipschaholik
Actually the speaker I have that needs reconed is a K43E not 33. Is there a difference in the cone and coil diameter? This was an extra speaker that came with a pair of cornwall II's. I need to pull the other speaker and see if it is the same or not.
IndyKlipschFan
I believe the K 43 was the industrial woofer used in (Pro Industrial LSI) La Scala's and a small run of the Cornwall Industrials in the professional line. It did not go quite as low, but would handle 200 WPC.
nomad02rider
Is the dustcover still available?
michael hurd
Klipschaholik: the K-43 is indeed a bigger coil diameter.... 3" coil vs the 2" coil in the K-33. So to answer your question, no you can't use a K-33 kit to repair a K-43.

HarryO
You might want to get a pair of the cast woofers from BEC. I bought my first pair a few months ago and the added bass was a big difference. It is well worth the very small investment to "upgrade" the woofs. I own 3 pair of Cornwalls and just finished building a pair using the CW1526C woofers from Bob. Definitely 2 thumbs up!! If you do change over you will need longer mounting screws as the cast frames are thicker. HarryO
klipschaholik
Where have I been? Who woke me up? No I haven't done anything with the K43, just looking for a replacement or two K33s Rumpelstiltskin[|-)]
