John Warren
The mouth of the horn exhausts into my living room. I don't remember the SPL characteristics but the LF output is lethal, sort of like standing behind an F18 at take-off.
sesquim
HOLY ***!!!!! What the hell is that thing? I thought that horn on top of the Beetle was big this one is HUMANGOSSS! Ray Garrison
John, That appears to be an exponential, or possibly hyberbolic, as opposed to Tractrix horn. As such, you've cut off the horn flare too early for properly controlled dispersion. How come? ------------------ Music is art Audio is engineering Ray's Music System

TheEAR
WOHA I want two of these compact horns please. Now SVS will eat their cylinders. LOL WOW Holy...if it goes to 20Hz I would be satisfied.Lest hope it can belt out AT LEAST 160dB at listening position. HELP Oh yes a bass horn like this DEMANDS at least a matching power amp.THE ONLY POWER AMP AS HEAVY AS A SMALL TANK and with power to propel a GM locomotive is the Krell Master Reference Amplifier. Now we are talking a match made in...HELL. TheEAR(s) Now theears
cc1091
Reminds me of the big horns the swiss use in the alps. Bet I could really piss off the neighbors with that. jdm56
I remember reading somewhere - Popular Mechanics, perhaps? - about an experimental battlefield "sound cannon". And yes, the idea was to literally generate sound so loud as to actually imobilize an enemy. I don't know if that is what the pictured contraption is, but I'd just about bet on it. ------------------ JDMcCall
justin_tx_16
i tried looking it up on the net and could find nothing that actually pertained to that. but it makes good sense. if someone DOES find a link about that, can you forward it to the BB? thanks. ------------------ -justin I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150

TheEAR
James, "I remember reading somewhere - Popular Mechanics, perhaps? - about an experimental battlefield "sound cannon". Well Klipsch has a few weapons in their arsenal the new RF-7 can generate lethal SPL with a large amp like the Celeste MOON W5. Today I cranked up some techno,OUF of LORD.My ears said HELP.The walls started to change shape! LOL TheEAR(s) Now theears
mike stehr
I kind of remember reading somewhere about this thing, (On the net on a forum?) but no pictures. If I recall, from what I read, If your in the path of this thing, it completly pulverizes your internal organs into mush, and from long distances. (But I am not sure if this is the particular weapon mentioned.) THANX! Too much bass.
jdm56
Yeah, the ears take the lickin', but the big Klipsch just keep on kickin'! I don't really listen at "crazy" levels too much these days. (At least not by my standards; most family and friends would disagree.) BUT, when I do indulge in some crankage, I am always just bowled over by the ease and clarity of the sound. I remember the compression and rounding off of transients that I used to endure, pre klipsch. Everythig would just turn mushy on the bottom, and gritty on top. In comparison, my klipschorns sound like they are just loafing along, with an essentially limitless reserve of clean, clear output capability available. Interesting point: I've noticed that when mated with appropriate power, the RF-7's have about the same maximum output as the k-horns. I'd like to hear 'em side by side, just to see how they compare quality-wise. ------------------ JDMcCall
mike stehr
I rooted around in the Army websites for hours last night trying to find info about this thing. Everytime I would get near anything to do with battlefeild Acoustics, the files required password acsess or did not exist. Could be ARL(Army Research Labs) yanked the files and the photo after Prosound posted it. They list many directorates, but not Battlefeild Enviroment Directorate. (The directorate labeled on the side of the weapon.) The only thing I seen was a weapon a little larger than M60 that worked on the same acoustic principals. One thing I read that was pretty interesting, was the Hostile Combat Simulator, A 2500 foot acoustic chamber with 50,000 watts, 33 loudspeaker systems, 12 subwoofer systems, 40 amps, mixed with 12 channel mixer. 155 Decibals. The room had huge projection screens too, if I recall. Now that's a Home Theater system. THANX!
