TheEvan
And a real gentleman. He came to our jr. high orchestra practice (lesee about '64 I guess) and talked with us passionately about music, blew his horn for us and went on his way. High on the charisma factor, too. Allan Songer
My favorite CT album: http://www.amazon.com/Serenade-Seat-Clark-Terry-Quintet/dp/B000000Y44/sr=8-1/qid=1166277715/ref=sr_1_1/002-7443991-1514415?ie=UTF8&s=music
LarryC
Thanks for the very prompt reply. I liked the selections in the link in the first post -- does Serenade have some of those? If not, would another of his CD's, like One on One? Thanks!

garymd
Allan, What's the name of the Dinah Washington album with Clark Terry, Maynard Ferguson, etc. as backup? I heard a couple cuts on the radio and it was amazing. I'd like to find a copy of that LP!

joshnich
One of my favorite Clark Terry LP is the "Oscar Petersen trio plus 1" I bought my first copy when I was in high school and played the crap out of it. I happened to be in Vintage Vinyl in St Louis and found a mint copy so I bought it. I had known that Mr. Terry was from St Louis, but it still amazed me and was bit of a twilight zone moment, because when I left the record store thinking about how much I loved this LP, I stepped on Clark Terries "star" on the walk of St Louis Fame, Delmar Ave, in U City. Pretty darn coincidental and pretty darn cool! It also caused me to ponder on all the great artists from St Louis. St Louis is a lot like Italy and Ireland. Both are small countries with a disproportionate influence on the worlds culture. In the case of St Louis they have had a disproportionate influence on American art and Culture. Clark Terry is an example of this inluence! Josh
