crazyhorse_aba
i am wanting to get a reasonable 2 channel music set-up. i am looking at heresy or cornwalls, which would you prefer?
kaiser SET say
Yo "Wild Indian", you ask musical preference and not speaker preference (Cornwalls)! Now if you tell use what music you tend to listen to other will chime in too I'm sure but I'm still rootin' for the Corns[] I do like your Avatar and handle by the way[]
crazyhorse_aba
stones, eagles, john mayer, van halen, metallica, doors, aerosmith and etc. etc. i guess mostly classic rock with some of the newer stuff every so often. these speakers will go in my office so i can enjoy music while online. i do have a set of rb-81's that im not using but im looking for a pair of speakers that will perform by themselves without a sub. Seadog
Any year is a good year for Cornwalls. A little different timbre between Cornwalls and the Cornwall II's, but both are great speakers (so is the new CW3!).
@silverfox@
i am looking at heresy or cornwall also consider the Quartet its a solid performer .
WMcD
I have Forte II at the office and believe them to be the optimal choice. If you have room for the CW, they are certainly good. But . . . i.e. But . . . The Forte II have about half the foot print of the CW. Hersey and even Quartets are too short and don't get the mid and tweeter up to ear level. I built 16 inch risers for the Quartets at home for this reason. Forte don't come up to that additional altitude but good enough. The Forte II have the wonderful tractrix midrange which compelled the Klipsch people to upgrade the Forte I to Forte II. Forte II have the lowest bass (arguably) than any other Klipsch full range speaker, including the CW and way better than the H. Reportedly, PWK had Forte II in his office. The only potential problem is that they need about six inches away from a wall I(if flat against the wall) because of the passive radiator in the back. I have them canted - toed in to the corners, with just the back edges almost touching the wall corners. I drive them with a Sony mini-system which is just fine. @silverfox@
Gil you're quite right on the positioning, and having the speakersraised, helps to eliminate its lack of height. i had my quartetup about 8'' and even now use them on cornwalls. I'veonly heard the forte II when purchasing the quartet. and muchperfered how they sounded. possibly its over emphisis on bass disuaded me from the forte.though still an option and perfrence for many. oldbuckster
Go with Cornwalls, if you can swing it, buy NEW Cornwall III's and your set for life.....................unless your using Tubes, you won't want Heresy's, they need a sub................................. jcmusic
I have forte II's in my vintage system with a scott 299, I think they sound awsome for what they are. Also the synergy with the scott is really nice, it is a very nice tonal quality. Just something about the tone of the vintage equipment that I love to hear from time to time.
