lammers
The La Scala woofers are rear firing. Would it make sense to put some dynamat on the rear of the cabinet and cover the dmat with another piece of plywood? Any other ideas? pzannucci
Doing this on any of the large wood panels that make up the horn would be of a help. The louder the output, the more likely the panels are to resonate. Peter Z.
Guest BobG
Two things. Stiffen the panels using some sort of externally appllied bracing - 2 X 2's, metal bars, something. This shifts panel resonance to a higher frequency. Next, damp that high frequency resonance with Dynamat or some such thing to turn kinetic energy into heat. Do nothing to the inner working surfaces of the horn.
lammers
The K43 woofers arrived yesterday. The basket needs to be filed a bit on the edges to fit in the woofer chamber. I will see how the new units sound and how the cabinets fare and consider additional damping.

Guest David H
The rear panel, the driver fires in to is fairly well dampened by the upper and lower ramps and the splitter. Far more important to address the side panels. Dave

Stevenarrow
Side braces are HUGE. The improvement cannot be understated.
