That looks like a lot of fun Paul. Are you and/ or others going off of the BB?

I remember the Midwest Audio Fest in Lima, Ohio a few years back. I had a blast at that one too.

I can almost taste the Kewpee Burgers...mmm

Would you go up friday night? Stay at this hotel or another one in mind? Seriously, I had a blast "getting out of my own element" of what I liked and or dis liked too. ("Gotta be the room") << I still chuckle about that line on some audio gear speakers/ hardware.. LOVED some others..

Another plus was getting a history on audio and esp JBL gear..... And meeting Bruce Edgar and hearing the huge Edgar horns... Norh etc., All cool!

People (regular joe people) have no idea just how cool this hobby is, and where it all goes at this level!

Unfortunately I can't make it Friday night. I'm just attending Saturday

and spending Saturday night. The hotel is awful but it's handy, because

that's where the audio rooms are. If you sleep in one of their beds,

make sure to bring a sheet of plywood to slide under the mattress..

That sounds promising. The good thing is, there is no way to go but up.

By the way, the site I linked to was created by Wardsweb (I think).

You are correct sir. I did create that website, along with all

of Audiokarma. I run a web development business to help fund my audio

habit. [H]

I'd really like to go (I wasn't laughing at AKfest, I was laughing at your endless jabs about the forum going down) [:)]

The AK forum seems like a nice place with good people....there's just no way I can get away now.

oh wow, turns out I'll be in the area that weekend anyway! I suppose it might be fun to swing by for a bit.

I've never been to AKFest before though....is it kinda like the Klipsch Pilgrimage mixers? A bunch of people show up with gear and show it off all day Friday/Saturday?

Its more like a mini CES or
Rocky Mountain audio fest. There will be manufacturers like McIntosh,
Marantz and Manley Labs to smaller shops like Salk speakers and SOTA
turntables. Check out the exhibitors page of the Fest site.

AK is at the top of an older Howard Johnsons hotel at Northland on the west side of Detroit one of the origonal "malls" we have all come to despise in small ways. Hotel clears out all the sleep related furniture and it makes an Ok room on the long wall.

You have acess to maybe 20+ rooms of different audio stuff. Craig is the major horn & tube dude but other genres of audio equipment are really well done. There are several rooms that have serious amounts of expensive equipment in them.

A bit of horse trading is known to go on for equipment. I got an NAD integrated amp and matching tuner in pristine condition for $ 120 2 years ago. Looks nice in my daughters room.

Fun discussions and nice equipment to see. There are few settings like this in the midwest to see enthusiasts go nuts for a weekend.
