TheEAR
PC number 1 takes the win None of the two are well balanced,I mean come on what is the bull MX cards doing with a big Athlon XP or P4 systems? WHAT THE... I have a Athlon XP1900 with 1GB of DDR and it has a ASUS GF3 Ti500,four SCSI 160 hard drives(both 10 and 15K)and 120GB of storage via Seagate IDE drives on a Promise RAID. And Swiftech MC462 cooler with Delta turbine The SCSI drives are on a Adaptec 39160. This system flies, its a rocket. GEAT AT LEAST A GF2 DDR 64,any MX is plain pathetic unless you dont play games.Or a GF3 Ti200 GREAT BUY! TheEAR(s) Now theears

TheEAR
Almost forgot no ANSWERING MACHINE has any time to play computer games. The Athlon XP system will outperform the P4 in most apps. You should enjoy Athlon XP power,I sure do.I have the P4 and Athon XP and the XP is my top choice.Raw torque TheEAR(s) Now theears

Paragon
IE he returned something and has store credit. I would say that Comp 1 is better.. AMD and all.. lots of ram. but it should be fine. Word to the wise.. after ya find that it is in good working condition and all.. format and reinstall windows with only what You need.. get all the sheet that those companies put on that you dont really need. This all depends on how it is to you tho.. but Frankly, most of the compaq, hp, etc that I have seen have the taks bar filled with junk. anyhoo.. GF3 Ti200 are nice cards. Im still running mt GF2GTS and it works fine Ear, seems like you got a little carried away with your system.. well, it isn't my money so Rock On!! ------------------ 1GHz TBird @ 1096MHz Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ 230/354 Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.

lynnm
I am a computer technician and my advice is that if the computers are a Compaq Presario or an HP Pavillion Choose Neither ! . If on the other hand they are not a Pavillion or a Presario go with unit # 1. Both Compaq and HP make solid business oriented machines. Unfortunately their home user machines are garbage. ------------------ It is meet to recall that the Great Green Heron rarely flies upside down in the moonlight - (Foo Ling ca.1900)

Jader
#1 ... solely because you get double the RAM and it's DDR on top of that. BUT I would suggest building your own. I'd never buy proprietary again ('cept maybe IBM Intellistation Z-Pro; work paid for that). I'd look at what you really want out of a system, component-by-component and go from there. When you get down to it, all you are really buying from these proprietary companies is some software, and a crap mobo + case. Oh, and loads of integrated systemware.
