thebes
I love sealed lps (not into tape). It's almot sensual when you slide your finger-nail down the edge of that shrink wrap. If it was truly expensive I'd probably leave it intact, but it he last two years I've probably run across 30 sealed lps and I have maybe 6 or 7 still to open. Whenever I find one I buy it even if I don't care about the music. It's the thrill of discovery and opening something that been waiting all these years to be used. In one sense I believe I'm fulfilling that albums destiny. Here's a little thread I had on the same subject a few months ago. The replies were varied and interesting. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/838575.aspx

Moderators Travis In Austin Posted April 25, 2007 Author Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2007 Some info on Columbia matrix numbers. I am even more confused: http://www.recordcollectorsguild.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=32129&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=columbia+matrix&start=10 Allan, That was a great find, I was not able to locate that at all when I did my search. After reading everyone's posts on that forum, I kind of gather that some of them know a little bit about what they are talking about, but that no one is really an expert on Columbia. It fits with what my recollecton was, that a "-1_" is a first pressing, and that the letter that follows tells the plant where it came from. However, the A/B, C/D we know does not hold water since mine has an A on one side and a J on the other. They also were saying that you can't tell on any record when it was pressed, and I disagree with that. I think if I gave you a matrix number and any notations in the dead wax on a Presige or BN you could tell me exactly when it was pressed.
