djk
Maron, which do you like better: 2452H (Titanium), 2452SL (coated Titanium), 2435H (Be), 2431H (Aluminum). None of these have the standard bolt circle and I have to make adaptor plates, so which should I try first (I went mad bought 'em all). ZAKO
djk.... the coated titanium sounds better than uncoated.... 2435H(be) I believe is coated too. Very extended and sweet sounding..... But if you want a bargain the 2431H (AL) beats the 2426 driver. Yes JBL is futzing with none standard bolt circles on alot of there drivers.... Trying to thwart us modifiers... No your not mad. This should keep you off the streets for awhile. Try the 2435H (be) first.. That should be your reference standerd,
Erik Mandaville
I have Bob's tweeters and like them far more than the K-77s, but can't speak about the other brands mentioned. In addition to being a drop-in replacement, another advantage is the potential for a lower crossover point for the midrange. Bob offers a 4,500Hz modification for that, too. I'm using a 3rd order network for the tweeter, crossed from the squawker at 4kHz. IMO, it's as much a midrange modification as one for the tweeter. Good luck, Erik
ZAKO
Remember all music instruments fundamentles are below 5000hz,,, the harmonics are above 5000hz
ClaudeJ1
............... Looks like replacing the tweeter just leads to replacing the mid also...maybe it's inevitable It really is inevitable. Personally, I think concentrating on the mid will have a bigger impact than foolin' around with the tweeter. However be warned: This could lead to using a Tractrix horn.... This could lead to going to a 2-way system... This could then lead to using an electronic crossover.... This could lead to bi-amping.... This could lead to using steep crossover slopes.... This could lead to correcting the time alignment..... Good Luck, -Tom I'm currently doing all the above except the Tractrix.
Deang
Me too -- except with the Tractrix. The best tweeter is no tweeter.
PrestonTom
Claude, Sounds interesting!. What are you up to and what horn/driver are you going to use? What went into the decision making process? Good Luck, -Tom
