dtximages
I have charter digital cable in birmingham alabama. I installed my new home theater with an HD projector and a 126" screen. Totally amazing quality, except for football in HD on CBS. The picture is out of focus and the sound sucks! THey dont play as much crowd noise and the audio signal goes from DD to stereo constantly. The comentators voices go from center channel to L&R's frequently. Switch to ESPNHD and youre in football HD heaven!!!! My reason for posting this is that it seems like the Crimson Tide are ALWAYS on CBS and it discusts me to have to watch that crap while ESPN is incredible. NBC not bad either. I have read other forums ecoing the same observations in other parts of the country. Any thoughts?
Zen Traveler
I don't watch sports on TV, however I have noticed that David Letterman doesn't seem to be as crisp as Jay Leno, but I thought that was for vanity reasons and they were using some kind on softening filter. dtximages
Yeah im not sure. I even asked friends to compare the two and they agreed with me. To me, football games are dull and boreing on CBS while ESPN its a football party haha.
Guest srobak
No problems with CBS HD here in Chicago... chances are it is your local station which Charter then picks up. Try contacting them, or set up an Over The Air antenna and see what that looks like. That will tell you if it is the station or your cable providor - could easily be their receiving/injecting equipment.
sivadselim
It is quite possible that it is the fault of your cable TV provider and not CBS.
IndyKlipschFan
You say you have digital cable... FYI....there is basic digital and HDTV boxes too... Maybe this is the fault... Some channels might need the HDTV box?? Just a thought... I know CBS NFL football Sunday with the Colts here on HDTV is just STUNNING!! I have the Comcast HDTV box... Infocus 7210 dialed in at 720p on my 106" screen.... It is incredible..

CAS
That definitely sounds like a prob with your provider. Call them up and have a tech look at it; they'll want to charge you but say you'll cancel and they'll do it for free. They've come out to my house 4 times and I'll be a monkey's uncle if I'm going to pay for a service visit on a system that's supposed to work in the first place. How dumb do they think we are??? dtximages
Yea i do have two HDTV boxes so i know im watching in HD... The projector is 720. Im comparing CBS to ESPN, huge difference. I guess its probably my local provider. ANYONE, who screws around with my HD quality is not my friend. This makes me mad, i think ill boycott or something. Except during Bama games. IndyKlipschFan
I was always taught what your display technology is, that is the max u should set other things to your projector. (Your DVD player / cable box, etc., etc.) otherwise it is just converting it down / up. When it sais video capability at 1080p/30 does that mean a HD or Blue ray DVD player would be fine with this projector and would be good... or do I wait till I get the IN 82 later? This one looks very good to me too.. But to be honest (I know on paper..) is it worth it thousands more to pay to get it... Again, right now it is just stunning at 720p ! IN82 Overview Specifications Accessories Support FAQs Resolution The Play Big IN82 is InFocus first Full-HD 1080p DLP digital home cinema projector. The IN82 utilizes the DarkChip3 DLP® chipset by Texas Instruments, technology which is unsurpassed in its ability to deliver deep black levels, pure whites, and subtle grayscale details. Also, the native 4000:1 contrast can be boosted to a maximum 12000:1 by activating the onboard iris. Brightness & Video Performance The IN82 is bright enough to deliver film-standard, D6500K color accuracy in nearly any theater, even with ambient light or daytime viewing. Producing video optimized brightness up to 1500 Max ANSI lumens this projector is spectacular and offers the flexibility to reduce brightness to improve black level performance in a dedicated home theater without dimming the picture. Connectivity The Play Big IN82 is virtually future-proof thanks to onboard HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color support. This new HDMI standard can display up to 1.07 billion colors for a smooth picture without color band artifacts. The IN82 also hosts comprehensive connectivity & I/O, including DVI, and PC input, screen triggers, RS232, and an IR repeater input. (Deep Color requires HDMI 1.3 compatible media player & source material.) Video Processing & Scaling True video magic projected by the Play Big IN82 is thanks in-part to Pixelworks DNX 10-bit video processing. This is the same outstanding processing, de-interlacing, and scaling performance as the award-winning InFocus Play Big IN7x series. The IN82 hosts unrivaled built-in scaling support at this price-point for 2.35:1 aspect ratio, for a true Cinemascope/widescreen without an external scaler (requires anamorphic lens, available separately). Video Settings InFocus Color Gamut Calibrator and ISF Day & Night presets allow for worry-free optimized performance at all times. Installers can lock in these ideal calibration settings for clients - an excellent value-add opportunity. IN82 Datasheet (442k) | Additional Languages French German Spanish IN82 Datasheet. Canadian_Dude
Can I ask a dumb question then... why are you watching Colts games on it in 720 when your Comcast box will ouput at 1080? I think it is because his projector has a native resolution of 1280x720 I believe it was, and projectors and such look their best at their native resolutions. So 720 would look as good or better than 1080 on it.

merkin
We have the same problem hear in the quad cities with mediacom. I had mediacom and our CBS was bad. Better than SD but not as good as any of the other HD programs. I recently switched to Dish and get my local CBS over the air. It still sucks compared to other channels HD. I think the problem could be in the local affilliate. Ours has been broadcasting shows that say HD and they aren't. Then someone calls the station they switch it. See AVS forums for your area HD. IndyKlipschFan
Close game..we should of won it. But did not.. OMG what a crowd too... I would rather win the next one anyhow.. But gonna be hard in NE as well in the cold.. We missed 5 starters and it showed. Payton did not have a good game. Adai was just awesome.. Defense against Brady very good, with just a few coverage mistakes... Should of could of... we just didn't..
oldbuckster
I find most Major Networks HD ........ to be quite lacking, half the time the broadcast is not HD ........... Fox, PBS, Discovery, always broadcast good HD, the rest, some days good, some days awful, if at all, TNT is good also ................
