Ray_pierrewit
Hello, I've taken the advice of several people here from when I first bought my oldish Lascalas: set them up, listen to them for a few months, love them, then think about upgrades and modifications. I'm there now. I've decided to change the caps and try to bring the crossovers back to factory specs. I found these for sale on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rebuild-Kit-Klipsch-Type-AA-Crossover-Network-Sonicaps_W0QQitemZ370034476283QQihZ024QQcategoryZ14993QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem My questions are: Has anyone here purchased these and installed them? If so, how difficult was the operation, how long can I expect it to take, I'm a beginner but will likely be doing this with a tech by my side. Will I need anything else to bring these back to spec? Should I consider changing the wires (I think I read of someone who installed and preferred silver vire, any thoughts?) Should I choose to one day change crossovers altogether and build some ALK universals, is there a market for good AA crossovers? What price can I expect to fetch for said crossovers? I'll try to include a picture of my crossovers as they look now: Thanks, as always, for any help, dna
G.Kennedy
Hey there ... the link did not work for me ... but I am guessing it goes to one of BEC's auctions for Soniccaps. Yes you can do this your self. An inexpensive soldering iron, some solder and a set of wire cutters is all you need (saftey glasses too) See those three tube looking things .... your gonna replace the with three new ones ... very easy point to point wireing. With a tech a your side, you have no worries. BEC (and others will be along shorty to guide you). Sonic caps are good .... depending on who you talk to ... and the size of your wallet ... there are other options. Will you hear a difference between different boutique caps ????..... only your ears can judge that ... I am running Sonic caps and they sound good to me. Would I like to try Mundorfs ... you bet ... would I be able to hear a difference .... until I try ... I can't answer that.

IndyKlipschFan
Ray.. Bob will look at what you have.. test the x over... (make sure other things are at spec as well...) and do what you want. (Maybe even clean it off a little.. hahahahahahahaha) Wow, is that dusty! Good guy.. Fair in prices...Good reputation too. Bob and some others are a nice asset to the board.. (And no, I get nothing for telling you this... LOL) We all work together to help each other out here on the forum. To me, it is a Karma thing..What goes around, comes around.
