Bill, these are KHorn decorators. Two or three show up on EBay every year, and almost always in birch. They probably are around St. Louis; I saw them back in 1980 at a party in north county.

KD-BR means Klipschorn Decorator - Birch Raw. Not that rare, but that laboratory-industrial description makes a good sales pitch. Oh, other than being not true. They look to be in decent shape, at least.

The lab-industrial tag is actually quite true if you knew the history of these speakers. There is nothing deceptive or fraudulent about the description, nor would it be wrong to call them "reference" speakers. The KHorn decorators have always struck me as an icon of audio industrial art - very functional, plain, and enormously capable speakers through the decades. For a thousand less, it would be neat to grab them and throw a sheet of ribbon sappelle veneer on them.

I think those are among the best looking K-Horns ever made, and would leave them just the way they are (if I was single).

i agree with pmsummer. i've had one set of decorator cornwalls and 2 sets of decorator heresys. would love to have a set of decorator k-horns. this set is awesome. leave them in their factory state or as some people call them NAKED
