  4. Congrats on the purchase! 1. The sub is probably just distorting if you have the volume turned up all the way. At least that's what it sounds like by the way your describing what's happening. I suggest turning the volume knob to halfway and starting there, then you can increase the volume of the sub as you see fit. 2. If it sounds like there is a screw loose I would probably return it. Of course I doubt it's anything that's going to affect the unit's performance, or that you or a guest is going to pick up your sound-bar and shake it. At least I hope not. That being said, if you just bought it, there shouldn't be anything moving around inside of the cabinet and it should be a hassle free return for you especially since you bought it locally. Good Luck!

  5. Funny you should ask. When I was at Paul Klipsch's house he had to swap out some RCA connections to play me some of his recordings. You could hear him ***** and swear as you heard buzzing from unplugging and and plugging those stupid RCA connector that disconnect the ground before the positive terminal. This type of activity can fry K-77's so PWK added the Zeners to protect tweeters. They have no effect on the sound.

  8. I know Tommyboy was in the military. As far as I know, his last post was right before he was deployed back in August 2009. I hope the unthinkable did not happen.

  12. His name was Allan Songer. He worked in the props business for film/tv. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&andor_type=&sid=5567e2dd8dcfe28c75e17ba1f556f91f&search_app_filters[forums][sortKey]=date&cType=topic&cId=147057&search_app_filters[forums][sortKey]=date&search_app_filters[forums][searchInKey]=&search_term=Songer&search_app=members Bruce

  13. Guys, The "super AA" is actually my design and was intended to be a turn in your AA and have it modified but Dean ran with the design and built them as a product. It was later renamed the "ALK Jr". It's actually a simplified version of my Universal. Anyhow, the Zener diodes in the AA do absolutely nothing until the AC voltage to the tweeter exceed a certain level, then they clip the tar out of the signal and generate distortion. They were added by PWK to keep from having to replace tweeters under warranty. Unless you have the old round-magnet K77 tweeter, you just don't need them. If you do have the old K77, I would leave them in there. They actually do no harm so long as you keep the volume level to a reasonable level. I personally think they were really an attempt to save the tweeter from reel-to-reel recorder monkey-chatter created on fast forward or rewind. That makes a lot of high frequency sounds at a high level that could be what was blowing tweeters back then. Al K.
