    Run away sub

I run my Empires stacked "about 120lbs each" but they don't move at all either. It sounds to me like your subs aren't capable of being stacked unless you put some weight on top of them. I guess you have three options, stack something heavy on top, unstack them, or upgrade them?
  2. I remember those days, the two channel section had most of the heated debates as far as I can remember. It has been pretty calm for a few years, that little bit in the garage and two channel the last few days is pretty mild. I remember a lot of threads having to be locked down and/or deleted back in the day.
  3. I am a huge die hard Yamaha fan, love everything about the company. I have a Yamaha Rhino that is bored, stroked, ported and very fast. Before that I had two Yamaha drag quads that were YFZ 450s. IMHO they dominate and are the innovators in almost everything they do. They have been the ones pushing the envelope in the motorsports world always bringing the first cutting edge products to market for everything from the best jet ski to the best crotch rocket to the best quads. They invented the side x sides, their keyboards are the best around IMO, their studio monitors are some of the best bang for the buck you can get, their acoustic guitars are in the same league as their monitors for bang for the buck, the list keeps going. They are just an amazing company. Now given all of that, for some reason their AVRs were so bright and such a bad match for the RF-7s when I heard them together over ten years ago that I have never been able to forget it. It was the classic tale of going into the Home Theater Store, the sales rep putting in Shrek and cranking it to ear bleeding levels and then walking out of the room. It was loud and so bright. My next audition was at a mom and pop store that had the RF-7s and Paradigm Studio 100's matched to a Harman Kardon AVR. Needless to say I ended up with RF-7s and Harman Kardon. I'm sure that Yamaha has made some changes to their AVRs in the last ten years but I doubt they have changed their sound signature. If it's being matched with a warmer sounding Klipsch it may be OK but IMO it's not the best match with reference speakers.
  4. Don't forget to look into Harman kardon AVRs as well, they are wonderful with Klipsch.
  5. Nice amp! I had the pleassure of listening to one of these with a pair of RF-7s about a year ago, great match, very nice amp.
  6. Sweet! Want to write my Ebay ad for me when I sell one of my UMCs!? lol
  7. Ahhh, I was not aware of this feature, I just assumed they were the same. I have no experience using a parametric EQ but it sounds like it's a nice feature.
  8. The UMC-1 has the same 11 band EQ per channel.
  9. Nice speakers! It's fun upgrading, as to large or small setting, like Budman said, try both and see what sounds best in your room. I run mine on large but I run RF-7s.
  10. The Paradigm is a very smooth sub, it digs deep and has very clean bass. I don't know the distortion specs on them but they have to be some of the cleanest subs on the market. The RSW-15 will have more chest thumping, mid bass slam from what I've heard and read but it won't dig quite as deep as the Paradigm. These two subs at $650 is a flat out steal though. I know the Servo 15 I have was $1500 15 years ago, that's about $2500 today. They are built like tanks and have very high quality bass. Buy these!
  11. Wow! That's one heck of a deal right there!
  12. Those are awesome looking, they are in a totally different price point than the Bello's I'm using but if cash is available these are clearly nicer and better built! I like them a lot actually. It just comes down to what you'd like to spend. The 36" Bello's can be had for about $130 http://www.amazon.com/BellO-SP200-36-Inch-Speaker-Stands/dp/B004BJ2EDW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1362495206&sr=8-3&keywords=bello+stand while the Spire goes for $379.
  13. I know what you mean! My room is the exact same size as yours except mine is 23 long and 12 wide with 10 foot ceilings. So I have three rows of seating three seats wide. I am running three subs that total five 15" woofers. The bass is insane. I can now turn it down and have the smoothest, chest pounding bass I have ever heard in a theater room. It has amazing impact. I'm sure your four KW-120s have a little more punch than my three subs but I can't be too far off so I know what you're feeling in there! Your room looks awesome btw, great job!
  14. I don't see why not, they are solid if that's what you're worried about. They claim they can support up to 100lbs, the speakers you're asking about are less than 23lbs. The base is pretty wide on the RS-62 but as long as you center it I don't see a problem. You could always fab a base plate that mounts to the base and is wide enough for the RS-62 if you'd like. I think it would be fine like it is though probably. Measure your couch, you may want to 36" stands if it's too high.
  15. I think it's an awesome x-over for any sub. I have all three of my subs hooked to it and love it. The on the fly volume is awesome. No more climbing behind each sub to make adjustments. Good luck with your sale!
  16. Hey Kevin, I assume these are the Khorns I listened to when I bought your Fisher amp? If so they are in very nice condition! I think I'm waiting to go with something from the pro line hopefully later this year. Anyone looking for a nice pair of Khorns though, take a look. I saw and listened to these, very nice indeed! Good luck with your sale!
  17. I'm surprised that the HK was so much nicer sounding. I like HK a lot and love their sound as well so I guess I shouldnt be that surprised. I have tweaked every speakers EQ quite a bit on my UMC's so to me the UMC sounds great although I would love to hear the HK 3600, 3650 or 3700 on my system just to A&B them. I could be missing something and not even know it. I think I'm going to hold out and buy the XMC with my one of my upgrade cards and see where things stand at that point. I will sell a UMC and use the upgrade card so I should be getting an XMC for about the same price of an HK give or take a few bucks. Good review, glad you like the HK. IMO HK is one of the best AVRs out there, they may not have as many bells and whistles as some but their sound and power is second to none.
  18. Nah, that guy is selling a Legend for $300, he made a lot of people mad by offering an Empire at that price and then had to tell them all it's the Legend lol. An Empire for $300 would be an amazing deal! I'd be forced to buy every one I see at that price lol.
  19. I run Epik Empires http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/dualempire.html that are very musical with massive mid bass slam, great for music and movies both. They are not the most powerful bottom feeders out there but they can hang with the ones that are. I gave up a little to have a musical sub, you can't have it all. You have to pick and choose where your compromise will be. I wanted very low distortion with big SPL and also the ability to hit 12-15 Hz and that's exactly what I got with the Empires.
  20. Those Fortes are very clean, I'm sure they will sound great but don't talk yourself into only using Klipsch. The Fortes can be modified easily to really shine but it sounds like the B&Ws left quite an impression on you, nothing wrong with that at all either.
  21. Your photography skills are great, the shots you take are as good as it gets IMO. Klipsch has used your photos on Facebook, perhaps they should fly you to town and let you shoot the photos of their new gear when it comes out! Why not keep it in the family!
  22. Very nice, glad you're happy with the 115's. That room is just an awesome size, I need to one like that!
  23. I use these http://www.bello.com/index.php?partition=show_product&prod_id=183&categ_id=99 with my RB-5s and like them a lot.
  24. Awesome, I have not heard these speakers but I can only imagine they sound amazing in a theater room. Thanks for the heads up on the Zeppelin Blu-ray, I ordered it just now!
  25. This is kind of exciting... Edit: Oh yeah, congrats on the new avr and glad it made it there in one piece!
