  1. Does anyone know if this is a good tube amp? I found a pretty good deal here at a local pawn shop for a pair of these mono amps rated at 50watts each. Any idea on the sound quality or should I go for a Dynaco 70, EICO or something along those lines? How does the MC50 compare to a pair of the Moondog Quicksilvers? Thanks in advance.

    ONLINE SALES

Deal with these guys if want to buy online. http://www.reliableaudiovideo.com/kliprf7newmo1.html They don't remove the serial numbers and they offer the same warranty. You won't find a better deal anywhere on Klipsch. Customer service is great and you cut out the middle-man.
  3. That is an awesome deal. You can't go wrong paying $350.00 a speaker for brand new RF-5s IMO. Try to bargain with him, maybe you can get it down another $50.00-$100.00 and really steal them.
  4. DeanG, Who was this person and what preamp is it? I would like to get a hold of something like this myself. I have been trying to figure out what to do next, buy more speakers or get better sound out of my two front RF-7s. I think a good preamp is what I need now then I'll work on the rest of my HT speakers.
  5. I would be very careful dealing with that guy after reading his feedback. Just a heads up.
  6. I got a pair of RF-7s for $1,598 from this company and that includes shipping. The serial numbers are still on the speakers and they were shipped by a very good company. Call and talk to them if you have any questions. http://www.reliableaudiovideo.com/kliprf7newmo1.html
  7. Follow this link for all the audio info you need. http://www.4music.net/links-4-0-10.html
  8. I have a question. Will we be able to have our current RF-7s updated if we are willing to send them in and pay the fee?
  9. This is the place for you I think. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/ These are the best subs you can get for the money. I think the PB2-Plus for $1,199.00 is a steal. I'll have one within a month myself.
  10. I think it was the fact that I had the treble almost maxed out and it was while using cable TV. I have never heard it using DVD. As for turning up the treble, I guess old habits die hard. With horns you don't have to do it but with other speakers the treble always needs to be up a lot more than the bass in my experience. Anyway I did some testing with some DVD movies and never heard anything other than crystal clear sound. I think it had something to do with the cable tv signal. These things pick up any little flaw.
  11. It sounds like my horns do that on my RF7 sometimes as well. When there is a huge explosion or something it sounds like they crackle a little. Maybe the treble is up to high? I'll play around with it some. I had the treble turned all the way up.
  12. Would it be worth it to run a nice tube pre-amp thru a HK 325? What would the difference in sound be using my RF-7s?
  13. Grab this asap! HK 525 for under $600.00 shipped by an authorized dealer. Good Luck. http://www.onecall.com/Shipping.SHP?PCPHAURL=17140&CartProductID=17140&NewQty=1 Edit: Seems the price has changed today. It was $580.00 last night, now it is up to $699.00. Still worth the money though.
  14. Found this on the AVS forum. If anyone is in the market for a new receiver it would be wise to jump all over this deal. Found this at Gotapex: I just bought a H/K AVR525 for 574.80 shipped. If you go through this link: http://www.onecall.com/PMN_796.htm?BCPID=241 You will be taken straight to it. If you sign up for a Onepass membership (it's free), you'll get a 1% discount that I've already reflected in the price above. If you need stats for the system, here they are: http://www.onecall.com/PID_17140.htm Also, Onecall is an authorized dealer, so no gray market to worry about if something goes wrong. Happy listening!
  15. If you just bought your HK 325 then it should still be under warranty. Give them a call.
  16. If I had the extra cash I would jump all over these. Check this out~ http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?spkrfull&1063856207&class&3&4&
  17. The RF-7s are the way to go. Even if it means you saving for another month to get them. You won't ever need another front pair of speakers. I am pushing mine with a Harman Kardon 325 (50 watts per channel, although HK watts seem way louder than others) and it is more than you can stand cranked up. I can't imagine what it will sound like when I put a good amp on them. Buy the RF-7s and call it a day. They will blow you away. I have heard people talk about their lack of bass but I have no clue what they are talking about. I put in some old school rap last night (Master Ace, Born to Roll) and they were pushing serious air. Every apartment on my side of the building was shaking I think.
  18. Great, these were the answers I was looking for. I'll go with Coax and see how it is. I've been using the little cheap hookups that came with my DVD player. I'll get the new speaker wire and coax Wednesday.
  19. Has anyone used Carvin amps around here? I know they make great commercial gear for stuff like clubs, concerts and so on. The speakers they build are rated at 103db sensitivity with horns so I would think their amps would be clean. I found a reference power amp and a dual monitor amp with a graphic EQ for good prices. HT760 Dual Monitor Amp with Graphic EQ: The DCM1001 sets a new price/performance standard in professional monitor amplification! With two 9-band graphic EQs built in, it eliminates the need for purchasing an additional external EQ in many systems. Delivering 500 watts per channel into a maximum of eight 8 ohm speakers, the DCM1001 can handle most monitoring chores with ease. LEDs for clip, protect and power. Inputs: XLR and ¼". Speaker outs: ¼", professional Twist-Lok connectors, and multi-purpose binding posts. 25 lbs. Price: $449.99 HT150 Reference Power Amplifier: HEAR THE DIFFERENCE SUPER CLEAN less than .1% THD +- 1dB 20 to 20kHz CRYSTAL CLEAR TRANSPARENT doesnt sound processed HIGH SLEW-RATE better than 50 volts per µ second SOLID BASS reproduces exactly what the kick drum delivers SUPER QUIET no hum or line noise generated internally OPTIO ISOLATOR LIMITORS a CARVIN exclusive that eliminates limiter distortion typically inherent in other amps Price: $229.99 Thoughts? http://www.carvin.com/pro_sound/poweramps/index.html
  20. What is the best for watching DVDs? I would think fiber-optic but I could be wrong. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons and what do most people like better? Thanks~
  21. I have no idea what you do with tubes. I saw a post here awhile back asking for an explanation on tubes but it is gone now before I got a chance to read it. Anyway, what is the cost on a good tube amp and how do you hook it up? Would I still use my HK 325 or not? Would it be worth while to use a tube amp on my RF-7s? I have never seen a tube amp so please forgive my ignorance. I keep hearing how great they are with Klipsch and want to explore this hidden secret. Thanks in advance.
  22. Nice setup you have. You need a bigger room though, those speakers are right in your face. : P
  23. I have not heard them but saw them listed on a website. I was just wondering how they sounded since they were horn speakers.
  24. If you are going to buy online I highly recommend this company. http://www.legacyaudiovideo.com/kliprf7refse.html I have talked to them on the phone and they are great. They used to be an authorized Klipsch dealer but Klipsch would not allow them to sell via the internet and 70% of their business comes from here, so it was a no brainer. They sell 100% real klipsch products and back them with the full warranty. Any problem and THEY will have them picked up and repaired and then shipped back to you free of charge. They have been in business for 13 years I think he said. Most people will not arrange and pay to have the item picked up; this is very important and shows a lot about their customer service. They get Klipsch speakers from an authorized Klipsch distributor but cannot say who is it of course. They have great prices and great customer service; I know people on this site have used them as well. So if the internet is where you are going to buy, use them. My next purchase will be thru them. I could have saved a lot of money buying my RF-7s from them. The total cost for a pair of black RF-7s shipped to me is $1,594.00. Hard to beat that when their customer service is so good
