  1. Yep your right I don't know anything about wifi. I was wondering if it was possible to use it as a high speed service to run the internet. Say maybe get a cellular phone account and only use it for my computer. Then I thought wow the rates probally would be out of this world. It's weird a guy from Canada told that's what he does, but he may have a laptop and live really close to a wifi location. Satellite is coming down a little from the last time I looked. Still to expensive for me. 300 for the equipment, and 50 a month, or nothing down and pay 99 a month. Heck I dont' need high speed that bad. Still I would like to stream videos in real time and not wait an hour and a half to watch a you tube video in crappy compression at that.
  2. Not a good thing to add if your into hifi, but it's a great thing if you need it. I need a surge protector, and all that bologna, because the weather where I live is extremely windy. I don't have the best electricity conditions if your in a situation like me I think you would benefit from one. I wouldn't spend that much money though. I think that is THE biggest scam in Hifi, and audio. I would go to radio shack get an RCA model or something for 30 dollars tops. Mine has saved my tele a couple of times. Nothing will save your equipment from a direct hit just little power surges. If you don't have bad weather conditions. I probally would opt for a something like a wireworld strip. Naim recomends that brand because it adds nothing like led's, curcuit breakers, or anything to degrade the power, but gives you enough plug in's you need. It's best to plug straight into the wall for the ultimate sound. I hope this helped.
  3. I found this on the web and wonder what some of you guys thought of this Michael Jackson cover. http://www.prefixmag.com/blog/prefix/2006/11/09/chris-cornell-covers-billie-jean/
  4. Is it possible to have a wifi internet connection with a desktop computer? It would be nice if you don't have any other option for high speed internet. I'm half tempted to splurg for satellite, but they got to come down on that price sooner or later you would think. The darn thing should be available automatically with Dish users.
  5. I found Audioquest bulk wire to mate really well with Klipsch( I'm not sure what their called it's just white thin cable). So happy with them I havent' change them since I've tried them. I tried Kimber and it just crippled my ears with to much highs with my current setup.
  6. I had to go back to read your post, because I thought you maybe referring to me. I had to mention "huge" to cover my own arse. I agree with ya 100 percent. I'm beginning to think debate is just another word for argue. I'll get out while the gettin's good not that this is a heated debate. I'm just not that knowledgable in this to "debate" anything other than what I hear for myself.
  7. I never heard a "huge" difference, but a difference on some cables ( not all). Then again I never spent alot of dough on cables. I can tell you this I failed the pepsi challenge when I was younger. I was a die hard pepsi fan, and bull headed so I stuck with my pepsi even though I preferred the coke taste at the time. Guess what? Now I drink coke. I do like pepsi fountain drinks better though. It could of been something I ate that just went better with the coke at the time of the challenge. I find when I eat certain donuts with my coffee it's spectacular![]
  8. Nordost is an expensive cable for someone not believing in cables making a difference. [A] I'm just glad someone else hears a difference other than me, and a few others who duck for cover when this subject is brought up. Maybe i'm not going crazy. Unless we both are.[]

    PULSE ( dVD)

I havent' seen Pink Floyd's Pulse dvd yet so I'm not sure. Sorrry about the confusion I was referrring to the new release horror style flick Pulse.
  10. I can help with the hardrive is all. All OEM products come with nothing. So yeah you will need a cable no big deal there. They are not expensive get it while you buy the hardrive so they discount the shipping a little more. Western is a pretty good HD. Thats what i'm currently using but when I go to buy my next one I will be looking for a seagate. Try to find one with the highest cashe storage for your price range. That looks like a good drive though. I will be looking for a Seagate with 16mb cashe my next purchase. My western's been pretty trust worthy though so I'm not sure. I will at least look into both. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010010001+1177512111&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=1

    PULSE ( dVD)

Well the movie isn't all that great, but the story had promise ( oh well it's to late now). Anyways the bassheads ought to rent this flick just to hear the pulse coming out of your subwoofer towards the end of the flick when they are down in the basement where there are servers. That's all I will say on that. I had my mom over and she said. "I never heard a subwoofer do that". The subwoofer literally scared her. It was weird and I dont' know how they did it, but it seemed very directional ( coming near the sub) and my windows were rattling on that side of my home. Other parts of the flick the bass was full and non directional. Just a cool use of the subwoofer. One of the most unigue experinces i've had with a sub. Maybe it's my setup so if anyone seen this please report back. Thank you
  12. Yes I beleive his wife is, or at least was at one point ( I could be wrong). I'm not sure if he is still with the same woman. I heard Chris will be making a solo album early 2007, and he recently done an acoustic version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean", and of course the theme song for Casino Royale. I do love Audioslave, but Chris can't be boxed into one sound. He just keeps growing as an artist, and I don't think one band will work for him. Chris does some very nice simplistic rythym guitar that compliments his voice greatly. I heard when Temple of the Dog was being made the boys from Pearl Jam who helped play along were showed the chords. They were like these two chords right? It was so easy they couldn't believe it was the song, and then he sang and it just floored them, and they were on it.. A Soundgarden reunion would be great though.
  13. Jay that link worked, thanks. Yeah I doubt I would be into it that much, and it looks like they will probally be getting stronger straps after these reports. Even so I don't think I would, maybe I would with bowling. I could see me smashing a tele with a hardball pitch for sure. I'm thinking the first person shooter would be a blast. It does have me worried now about having kids mess with it. One of the actual big selling points for me. Trying to get people visiting to do something fun together may be a costly thing in the long run. So hopefully they do get a stronger strap.
  14. Darn it i'm trying that link but nothing is working.
  15. Was Chris Cornell a great addition to that group, or what? Much better than Rage against the Machine, in my opinion.............. Oh yeah Chris is one of my favorite singers. He has alot of soul, and not in the traditional sense of the word for a gritty hard rocker.
  16. It looks interesting, and I'm bettin is loads of fun especially shooting things. I did demo excite truck at ebgames with it. I wish it had a tad more graphic power, but what are ya gonna do? It is fun and much cheaper than the other consoles, and smaller which I like. It has a wifi wireless internet connection that you will beable to browse the net with the browser Opera early this coming year. Which is a great browser i'm just finding out ( using it as I type with a Mac type skin on a Pc. I downloaded a bunch of skins I can change on the fly. Really fun widgets to mess with too). I just wish I had wifi, I will probally get one after all the fuss about getting one before the holidays is over.
  17. Wow I haven't been able to open a page on this forum in a long time. Anyways I was investigating the new nintendo wii, and found out they will be using a browser called Opera for internet cruizing. I may get that console to make a long story short I downloaded it to get the feel of it. Opera is FUN! Do it! http://www.opera.com/download/
  18. If your looking for a tight musical sub I would consider the Bob Carver Dominator D-10. I normally shut my subs off for music, but this sub actually makes music. Good luck
  19. The Bob Carver Dominator D-10 is the most musical sub i've heard to date.
  20. My bottle says 50 percent isopropyl. It deosnt' state any other ingredients other than it says inactive ingredient is water. It doesnt' say the percentage though. Dollar general stuff here. The good news is the player is running pretty darn good all of sudden. I wonder what was wrong I still may clean it. It was not used for quite sometime, and I just leave it on all the time, and the longer I leave it on the sweeter it sounds.
  21. I got it in today, it's all hooked up I got in the corner it seemlessly blends in with the heresys II's with no tinkering. Then again maybe because I've messed with subs for so long I just know what works for my room ( settings that is). I need to break it in a bit i'm assuming. That is one tiny subwoofer. One well built woofer for sure. I'm gonna listen to a few hours of music then pop in a dvd.
  22. Scooter that sounds great. I havent' built a pc on my own yet, but my brother is thinking of having me do one for him. I'm now thinking of taking this approach instead. I just hope I don't mess it up for him. Thanks for the info. Bill
  23. Mike is rubbing alchohol a no no? I'm just trying to think of some stuff I got laying around the house. How about some hydrogen peroxide?[] I dont know maybe I need to go shopping.
