  1. Happened to me about a month ago with a Kimber Kable.
  2. Thats a great deal!!! I would consider it but I live in southern Virginia and the trip would be too much.
  3. Lancestorm, If you look at it, the RF-3II are not small speakers. They simply are not as large as really big speakers. I think in dollar value terms the RF3II is the best speaker Klipsch produces. You have a GREAT set of speakers if you are running 5 of these. I have two of these on my mains in my second system. They sound so good that I have on several occasions considered switching out those with my KLF-20's for my surrounds but I simply do not have the room for the 20's in my second room.
  4. Lets see if I have this right, From system center positive go to speaker 1 positive. From speaker 1 negative to speaker 2 positive. From speaker 2 negative to system center negative. This will create an 16 OHM "speaker" that will not have as much output. I really would not consider doing this as you would want a more "centered" center channel. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
  5. Kylaxi, Welcome to the hobby...get out now because you will never be happy with your system . I have been through three systems in 2 years. The problem starts when I try to be "cheap" (no harm intended) and am not happy with the results. I dare say that if I would have purchased the system I have now from the getgo I may have saved several thousand dollars. Marksdad, Did I misread your post. I didn't think the 797 and RF-5's had been around for 14 years. I also had an Onkyo 797. I added a 5 channel external amp that really cleaned the power and gave the system Umph. I did find the system to be lacking in detail which is why I now have a Yamaha. The Onkyo and amp is now setup in my bedroom with RF-3's, RC-3, Denon sub, and Polk RTi-80's. Not too shabby for a bedroom system
  6. I have heard this on satelite which is coming from the satelite reciever or analog connections. I never ever have heard it on any other sources.
  7. Good point BobG, Sometimes I am guilty of forgeting the "sum of the whole" concept. Now I don't feel as bad myself!!!
  8. Hometheaterforum.com.......You can ask questions. By doing a search on that site you may find some reviews and replies in the thread.
  9. Dang Gil, you make too much sense and I feel guilty for posting this. Here goes, Toothpick repair & $100 credit. What happens if in the future that our currancy is based on toothpicks? Can you say NEST EGG!
  10. Thanks everone for your input. DougDrake, Great Links!!! With those links I have just decided to wait for the Denon 2200. I'm not sure if I missed it but does anyone know the release date. I took from the posts that it will be in the $600 range which I do not mind "wasting". My threshold for "waste" is $1,000. I do not mind spending it, just want it to have some sort of shelf life.
  11. Vladi, I agree that the pioneer sounds too good to be true. However for $179 I may just give it a shot and if these formats gain momentum then I would get a better player and retire that unit to my bedroom system. I know that the NEO6 music does seperate the music somewhat. Is this the same as DTS surround? Also, do you use two seperate 6 channel inputs for both SACD and DVD-A. This too me is why a universal player seems to be a bargain.
  12. well, this topic will open a can of worms. Some people think that speaker cable, as long as it is decent, does not make a difference. Fewer think that simply bi-wiring makes no difference. Polk Audio states that while the gains are nominal (bi-wiring) there are gains. It would be interesting to see what the people at Klipsch think about this (hint hint administrator). I personally believe that bi-wiring does help EVER SO SLIGHTLY. My system is bi-wired with Kimber Kable and the cost was around $1,300 to do a 6.1 set-up. If I had to do it over again I would not have done this and spent the $650 on other components. To answer your question, I do not think it will negatively impact your system. While it may not help it certainly will not hurt anything but your pocketbook.
  13. I'm sure many of you are perhaps considering a "universal DVD player" that is able to handle SACD & DVD-A. At the time, the market does not seem to have many players and most are in the $1,000 range. I understand that Pioneer (Best Buys) has a new universal at a $179 price point which I am considering. If these formats do not make it then I don't have too much money tied up. If they do make it then the initial price will be reduced for a great player. I have questioned folks at CC & Rex about these players and no one knows much at the store level, no big suprise. However the gentleman at one store told me that he did not believe either format would survive. He commented on CD's in DTS surround sound format that any player would accept that has digital out or fiboer optic out. He commented that he could not tell a difference between SACD and DTS Surround. What are your thoughts on this subject as I have not had the pleasure to hear either format.
  14. I know it's a pain, but take it back and tell them your not happy with the repair.
  15. Why not a RSW15 now, then add something smaller in the back of the room later. Did wonders for me.
  16. Why not the Yamaha RX-v3300. This set has the latest features and is right under the RX-Z1. It does have the DPLII, 130 watts per channel, and can be had for between $1,100 & $1,200.
  17. Colin, You were typing your response as I was typing mine. I think your summary is about as good as I have read in a while...Makes me want to reconsider the RSW line, or a SVS.
  18. The Velodyne is a great sub. In one of the lastest home theater magazines they auditioned 10 subs and the 15" velodyne scored the best ($600). No Klipsch subs were in that catagory. I think the older Klipsch sub can be boomy but you can also make adjustments to reduce that effect. Sub placement is critical and can effect My 2 cents is that the current RSW lines are overpriced for what you get. I have not heard or priced the new RW lines that may provide more value for your money. My opinion is also that you can never have too much sub. If you can swing it, go for the 12" and better yet go for the 15". You can always turn it down
  19. Thanks Trey, Yup, things happen. The speaker works great now and I'm happy. I guess as I get older I loose patience for items that I have to correct myself. I used to not be that way....Age Anyhew, it works fine now.
  20. B & W 802's are simply awsome. My dealer got some in about 1 year ago. When she first connected them a Denon 5800 was driving them and they were truely unspetacular. About one week later I was back in the store and she had Yamaha seperates powering them and they sounded as good as gold, sweet. I purchased the RF-7's as I could not afford the B & W as they do not like to discount them much at all. However I live in an area that is economically depressed and she still has the speakers. She offered them to me for $7,000 if interested. That's still too pricey for me.
  21. James, Get the reciever!!! Just put up plywood for the deck and tell her you are working on an awsome design for the future. Sunken ponds, pergola, multi-level, etc.
  22. dPhoenix, If you like the Yamaha RX-ZI but do not want to pay that price then consider the Yamaha RX-V3300 which has the same amps but not as many DAC's. It can be had for around $1,200. I cannot tell what THX has, or has not done for me. My second system has an Onkyo TX DS 797 that is THX certified, and the RX-v3300 blows it out of the water. Would I rather have it, yes. But after knowing what I know now I would never base my purchase decision solely on THX as it stands now.
  23. Vladi, No offense taken, it hurts me too. I do not know what I did to do that. I have tried (not too hard) to correct it but gave up shortly. I would rather have nothing than that mess. I'll try again.
  24. DeanG, Your out of line. I simply stated what I beleive to be true. As the owner of many different Klipsch speakers (twelve)I feel I certainly can offer my opinion, which is what we all do. I personally own a set of RF-3II's on my second system and they would offer superior performance to the RC-7's at the main position, which I also own. I feel very confident saying this as I have heard everyone of the reference series except the new lines. Don't get me wrong, the RC-7 is an awesome speaker for a center channel. I simply feel for $1,600 (list) you can get the RF-3II's and save some cash for that sub.
  25. Have you checked to see if your center is set on "large" or "small"? Switch between the two and see if that helps.
