I have 1987 CornerHorns, a 1987 Belle for the center and 1987 Cornwalls for the rears. I have about $4100 in all five. I have a DIY subwoofer that I never need to turn on. I admit, it took about a year of whatching and waiting but I couldn't be happier with the sound. I do understand that my set-up is not for everbody, but that is why it's at my house. :-)

30 degrees cut from the back side?

Since I live about 40 miles from where the speakers are supposedly at, I have emailed the seller to ask if I can see them and listen to them. I will let you guys know what I see and hear or NOT see and hear, as the case may be. I have owned Lascalla's and now own Cornwalls, a Belle, and a pair of Cornerhorns so I should be able to get an idea of what this guy is selling. Hope to hear from him and report back soon.

Sounds to me like you could do well with Heresy speakers, and a HK 430 or 730. Oh, and a patch cord from the sound card to the HK.

BTW, I sent my money by a postal money order and sent it via usps mail. The only thing the postal service did for me was to send me a copy of the endorsed money order so I knew who signed it. I sent a copy of it to the cops that worked the case. The postmaster here told me that the postal investigators were covered up with big stuff and didn't have time to work little stuff like mine. I think I was told that there were only about 150 postal investigators in the country and my guess would be that ebay theft alone would generate that many cases an hour. Buyer beware.

I went through the same thing about a year ago. I ended up bugging the daylights out of the Cops where the guy lived. I had to go to my local police dept. and file a complaint. They faxed a report to the cops where the guy lived. I called the investigator about once a week for months and finally went online, found the name of the head of the police review board and left him an email explaining that I had been ripped off $1100 and the cops were giving me the run around. The next day I got a call from the boss of the guy I had been talking to for months. Within two days, they had the guy that ripped me off, in jail and he was allowed one week to get me my stuff or my money. He sent me a money order. The DA declined to press charges. It took over 6 months to be resolved. The item I bought, a Yamaha reciever, and five Klipsch speakers. I guess you could say the guy would rather go to jail than give up his Klipsch. :-)

I happened across this guys ebay sale. Time is short and this stuff looks to be available for cheap. I thought some of you guys would like a heads up.

The set that sold for $1375 started out as birch and were trimmed and veneered and not very well at that. Price was about right.

A speaker is normally thought of as a round, cone shaped thing with magnet on the back of a metal frame that holds it all together. The cone shaped part moves to make the sound. A driver on the other hand , as in your example, is more of a diaphram that is on the front of a magnet that is vibrated to make the sound. The sound is then directed by a horn shaped gizmo that is bolted to the front of the driver.

Don't I look like a dummy. I read cornwalls when it was cornerhorns. Oh well. I paid $3500 for a pair of Walnut Cornerhorns with a Belle for the center channel. They were all 1985 models. They were all in "like new" condition. Slow night tonight. Should have had more feedback by now.

I paid $600 for a 1985 pair of walnut cornwalls if that helps. Cabinets were in fair shape. Same with the grills. All drivers were fine.

Hey Michael, He is going to hook up your 730 to his Corns! I hope you will enjoy the Acurus and the Nakamichi. Shipping will be a little more for the two units but you will be happy with them. After all, you won't hear the 730 so the Nakamichi will sound ok. (hehe. snicker snicker)

So would the K33b be the Bose model? :-)

I know the Runco name but know nothing about that model. I have had a Sony hs20 for about a year with a $29 dvd player and I am thrilled with the picture. I am waiting for the hd-dvd players before I buy a new player. I am projecting to a home made 4x8 screen (parkland plastic I think) that is painted and wet sanded with grey automotive primer. The room is semi controlled but it still looks great in the middle of the day with plenty of light in the room. I tried the screen with only sanding the plastic but it was too bright. The primer and wet sanding gave it a flat finish that looks great from anywhere in the room. I paid about $2900 for the Sony and would do it again in a minute.

Actually, if your car will run on regular without knocking, using premium will result in lower performance and less miles per gallon.

A couple of weeks ago, Trey was looking for someone to help out with a Klipschorn owner of early 70's Cornerhorns. I went today and played with his system. He had a problem with the right channel not working but his wife dusted and cleaned behind the speakers before I got there and they fixed themselves. :-) The wires were 30+ years old. I loosened up all the connections to the crossovers and the spring loaded mid-drivers. I De-Oxit treated them all and tightened them all back up. He had, prior to my arrival, changed out the Yamaha he had driving them to an old McIntosh 4100 that had been in the bottom of a closet for about 10 years. He had offered it to his daughter years ago and she told him that she didn't want that old junk. :-{ The Yamaha was scratchy sounding as he put it, so I De-oxit'd the controls and told him that, if it were me, I would leave the Mc in service and put the Yamaha in the closet instead. The Mac sounded great except for a little scratching in the EQ knobs. A few turns in both directions fixed that well enough that I didn't have to take it apart to lube the knobs. I really didn't want to fix something that wasn't broken. He had a Nacamichi CD player that was skipping and sitting idle on the rack. I took it apart and air dusted it out. It sounded better than the Pioneer vhs/dvd player he was using. I didn't want payment since I had enjoyed the 60+ mile ride on my motorcycle to get to his house and since I don't do this for a living, just for fun. He insisted and after I named a price, he paid me double. I had heard of men paying somone to tweak their sweeties left and right knobs but never dreamed it would happen to me. Especially on a Sunday afternoon at a bank presidents house. Thanks to pimp-daddy Trey for hooking me up. It was fun. :-) PS. he had 3/4" plywood screwed to the sides of the bass bins and stopped them at the side grills. They sounded great. The room had windows on 3 sides.

I have my Khorns hooked to the common or center lugs on the back of a Niles DSP-1 amp/speaker selector. I have my Scott tube amp hooked to the "IN/B" side and my Yamaha receiver to the "OUT/A" side of the selector. If I am watching a movie, it's out, if I listen to two channel, it is in. Best of both worlds. I have Khorns L/R fronts, a Belle center and Corns for L/R rears. My Pioneer CD player has a digital and analog out. The digital goes to my Yam. and my analog goes to my Scott. Hope this helps. This setup also makes it easy to A/B the tube and SS systems.
