hey deano (snipers and the jub envious, STAY AWAY)
wrench_peddler replied to bodcaw boy's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
While I don't have extensive listening time to the Jub, I listen to Klipschorns, a Belle, and Cornwalls, every day. I listened to a single Jub in Hope last summer. The easiest way I can describe the difference is that with the KHorn, I know the sound is coming from a speaker. With the Jub, you want to go over to the speaker, stick your head in the big ole horn on top and look around behind them at the musicians. It's almost like the Christmas I was in the first grade, I got a transistor radio when they had first come out. By the time I went back to school on Jan. 3, I was left with nothing but a battery and speaker that made a clicking noise because I had torn the radio apart to figure out how they got those people in there. Listen to a Jub, and you will wonder the same thing. The same bug that bit me in 1973 when I first heard Lascala's, bit me again last summer in Hope. I just hope it doesn't take another 30+ years to scratch this itch. -
If they are the ones on Ebay, Run------------------------------------------AWAY. They are a scam. If they are for real, that is about 1/2-1/3 their actual value.

Anyone seen Heresy 3's used? Worth?

One less now. See ya. -
Years ago I lived next door to a guy who worked on CB radios in his garage. My bedroom was about 40' from said garage. He would often awaken me by talking on his radio and I would hear him on my speakers, loud and clear. My stereo was NOT on. A braided shield would have probably stopped that problem. If you need a place to ground the shield at the amp, you should be able to loosen a screw on the cover of the amp and slip a wire connector under the screw and tighten it back down. You may want to do this on the back or the bottom of the amp because you will really need to scrape the paint off the area under the screw so you actually have a good metal to metal ground.

I am interested. How much? -
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5434687 I downloaded the ring tone at the beginning of this article and played it on my system attached to my computer. My son was in the back of the house and was in bed. I couldn't hear anything so I turned it up and played it again. I thought I heard something so I turned it up and played it a couple more times. He got out of bed and came in yelling at me wanting to know what that noise was. I asked "what noise". That squealing noise. It was driving him crazy. He has a little tinnitus and the sound was beating with the tone already in his ear. We downloaded it to his cell phone and after playing it about 5 times on his phone, which I couldn't hear either, he said he had a headache and would I please not play it again. He went back to bed. So, hear it, or don't?

I would be interested in two sets for my 430's. What kind of $'s are we talking? Interest and $'s are directly proportional.

I was born in Crossett. My Dad's parents are buried there.

If the Lascala's didn't come with a tweeter, you may have to add to the crossover so you can add the tweeters to make it work. I would check with Bob Crites, Russelville Ar, and tell him exactly what you have and he can fix you up with what it will take to convert your speakers to the real deal. Once that is done, you will not want anything else hooked up at the same time. Those two will be all you will need.

Check out Eva Cassidy. Not much out there by her because she was taken from us much too soon.

DIY Khorn Project Complete (pics of process)
wrench_peddler replied to HarleyMo's topic in Technical/Restorations
Hey Harley, What did you use for blueprints? I have a buddy that is thinking of building a set of horns. Thanks. -
The only one that caught a comment by Trey in the Magnet assembly room at the Hope factory during the tour. The comment that magnets change their pull over time and that changes the ohm/load the crossover see's. With all the talk about crossover rebuilds, what's the point if the magnet has changed. I don't know enough about ohms, and crossovers, and magnets to carry on an intelligent conversation but thought some here might. Could be I don't know enough about what I thought I heard in the first place but knew it would get cleared up or beat to death here. Batter up.

That shirt was on my son. It was from a auto body repair and towing company. He also has one that has, "we want your tow". BTW, I love the t-shirt idea. front of shirt Klipsch Owners (Big Heart Pic) Klipsch Workers/Employees/Builders/Creators? back of shirt (Big Lips/Smooch Pic) List of attendees (Hope Pilgramige 2006) -

I was talking to my girlfriend tonight and read her your email. She is a therapist that sometimes has to write on black wheelchairs. They use a silver Sharpie marker that she said shows up well on black. That would be classy looking on the back of those new Cornwalls. The other idea I had was to just ask them to let the factory workers sign the back of the speakers and just shoot clear over them. They wouldn't have to paint this set black. It would make them even more special and no chance of them getting rubbed off. Just a couple of ideas. Congrats. -
Dr. Who's job recomendation.
wrench_peddler replied to arfandbark's topic in Forum Meetup Planning + Past Klipsch Pilgrimages
I was thinking over the weekend about how nice it would be to be in DrWho's shoes. Young, talented, sharp, and rubbing elbows with some of the sharpest, most talented, and influential people in the business of speaker building. Klipsch people. An opportunity I would have given anything to have had. Go for it Doc. -
It is finished.
wrench_peddler replied to pmsummer's topic in Forum Meetup Planning + Past Klipsch Pilgrimages
I think it is painted trim. The speaker is jaw-dropping fine. Piano gloss top. The wood on the front is awesome. A diamond? dotting the i in Klipsch on the logo on the bottom front. First class all the way. The back of the speaker is just as finished and breath taking as the front. The 60th is more old school looking than the 50th but beauty is as much in the eye of the beholder as a favorite sound is to the ear of the listener. My "in person eye" liked the 60th and my ear like the Heresy for most improved and the Cornwall 3 for favorite sound overall of the regular production. I have now heard a Jubilee of sorts and think I will never forget that sound. Sort of like the pair of Klipsch I heard in the band room at La. Tech in the mid 70's that burned into my brain, "I gotta get me some of those!". Maybe it won't take me 30 plus years to quinch this thirst. The Jubilee was impressive. -
Two recievers with one set of speakers?
wrench_peddler replied to spaaaz's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I have a Niles DPS1 speaker A-B selector that I think maintains a load on the non-used amp. It allows you to use two sets of speakers on a single amp or two amps on a single set of speakers. I don't remember, but I think I paid less than $100 for it. I have a Scott and a Yamaha that share time on my Khorns. I have been using it for almost 2 years with no problems. -

Hey Daddy Dee. I have been busy. I got a job and a lady friend so free time has been scarce. I now just have the job so the weekend away sounds good. I am just proud you recognized my name. If you missed me, I am touched. I have been around, just in the shadows, lurking, reading what I can but not taking the time to post. Hope to see you in Hope. :-) -

My son and I are planning on attending. We will let you know if our plans are changed. My name is Steve and my son's name is Chris. Sounds like a good weekend for a father and son road trip on the bikes.
