  1. The difficult cuts, this is where the saw really came in handy.
  2. Next level. Yes, removable motorboard. I read all the discussions and the issue flared back up while I was in the middle of this. I chose to use it for ease of installation and maintanence. I doubt that my old ears could tell the difference.
  3. First level completed. Angles more then 45 I did have to do on my very modest table saw, hense the burn marks.
  4. The first cut. I cant say enough good things about this saw. It is the reason I could do this project. No worries of sliding heavy stock through a table saw. 95% of all the cuts on this build were done with this saw. Festool TS55 plunge cut saw. Its worth the investment, good german craftsmanship. I put a 2 inch piece of foam insulation on top of a table, layed the fence down on the line to cut (no offsets) and just run the saw down the fence. Like cutting paper with a razor blade.
  5. Well, Ive finally completed my 3 year Khorn project. 3 years ago I started researching the process, collecting parts, spending two much time on this forum, and going through a divorce (no, it had nothing to do with the project). But I have no WAF to worry about now. I started the build process at the begining of the summer and finally finished yesterday. Im going to post pics of major milestones of the project. I took tons of pictures. I know most are onto Jubilee projects but the Khorn has always held a place in my heart since hearing them back in 1988 when I bought my fortes. I fell in love with them. This forum has just fueled that love of the Khorns and Klipsch in general. A special thanks goes to forum member Bigdnfay without whos help this project would have been much more difficult. He is a great guy. Thanks to AL K for your wonderful crossover design, Sfogg for supplying me with a parts kit to build those crossovers (3 years ago), and Bob C for supplying the wonderful woofers. And all the other members on this great forum for all the fantastic information I have gotten here. Harley (btw, they sound GREAT, more info on that later Ive yapped enough, on with the pics)
  6. This is what I did. Wait for a special day, anniversary, bday, something where giving her some roses wouldnt seem out of the ordinary. Leave the roses in the box that they give you. Tie the ring with a ribbon around the stem of the roses in the box. When she opens it, there it is Good luck and happy anniversary Harley
  7. Erland, I got that pic from the photo section here on the forum. It was taken by a forum member on a visit to the klipsch factory. There are a couple more pics out there, just hit the photo tab at the top of the screen and go to klipsch gallery. Also, I am finishing up my Khorn project and when I am finished I will be starting a thread here and posting my contruction pics. The guys on here always love seeing DIY pics. Good luck with your project. Harley
  8. Im in the process of building mine. Getting ready to put on the oil finish. The angles are wild. But not too bad with the correct measurements, the right saw, thinking through all the cuts repeatedly and alot of patience. Harley
  9. If my memory serves me right, there is a picture of a Khorn being built in the pictures section that is from last years pilgramage. And if my memory serves me right it was being constructed from plywood. Did they change to mdf between last year and this year? Harley ** EDIT ** I knew alltimers hadnt set in yet. Hope visit 9-17-05
  10. I vote for Roger Waters. Lyrics inspired the music. Waters was in Floyd from the beginning. Nod towards Gilmore for better vocals thou. But wont listen to post Waters Floyd stuff. Harley
  11. Not talking about Compaq, are you ? They and HP merged and everything is sold under the HP name now. Dont know how non-descript they were Harley
  12. I saw it, where the speakers are outside playing in sub-zero weather. I kind of thought the same thing at first glance but havent freeze framed it to get a better look yet. I will next time its on. *EDIT* They have it on their website: http://us.smirnoffice.com/?allowAccess=4r7a6h&refUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.smirnoffice.com%2fTemplates%2f1ColumnTemplate.aspx%3fNRMODE%3dPublished%26NRNODEGUID%3d%257b27262330-4394-4AEC-868E-B642A9E655AB%257d%26NRORIGINALURL%3d%252f%26NRCACHEHINT%3dGuest&RhLanguage=en&RhFlashEnabled=1&RhCountry=US&RhYear=1962&RhRemDetails=False&RhReferer=landingpage2.smirnoffice.com&gatewayStatusCode=01 Choose "whats cool on TV" and then pick the "wild over" clip. Not sure if they are Klipsch or not. Have horn tweeters. Harley
  13. Im getting lots of great suggestions. I knew there was alot of recordings of it but even Babs (refraining from any comments towards her politics). Im looking for what everyone wants I think. A good guality recording that sounds good on our acurate Klipsch speakers balanced with a good performance. I think maybe Im just going to have to get a few copies and see which one I enjoy the most. Never ceases to amaze me at the vast knowledge and experience of music on this forum. Thanks Harley
  14. For some reason I cant get my Audio to work there, just the video. *EDIT* Nevermind, had an old version of Flash Player Sounded Great
  15. Any opinions on the best recording of Carmina Burana? I read that the Fischer-Dieskau, Jochum version was endorsed by the composer but dont know how the quality of the recording is. Since Im TT-less at the moment I would be looking for a CD version. Thanks Harley
  16. I think your biggest challenge would be the height. With tophats off they are still about 38 1/2 inch tall. Depth from front to tailboard is about 24 inches and they are about 32 inches wide at the front. Hopefully they will fit. Harley
  17. Personally, I like the "old style" wood grain and tweed grill cloths and not have my speakers look like every other black colored modern audio gear. But thats just my humble opinion. Harley
  18. Now that is Hi-Fidelity. Im selling all my audio gear. Harley
  19. Well, 14S195 makes ALOT more sense. It looked much too strange of a S/N the way I was originally reading it. I guess I should get some glasses lol Harley
  20. Looking through ebay this morning and am amazed at the number of cornwalls that are listed. There are 5 pair out there and some really nice Vert ones in Kanas City. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Cornwall-Speakers_W0QQitemZ9736716961QQcategoryZ61378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Need any more for your pile Michael ? Harley **** Not Associated with any of the Sellers ****
  21. Youll enjoy the Fortes if you get them. Ive been enjoying mine since I bought them new in the 80s. Once Klipsch gets in your blood its there for good. Good luck getting them Harley
