  1. I have the original paper work still. Got turned on to 21's by my cousin. Had a few, my fave was a 20 gauge 26" I/c/Mod. Loved that gun. Before the internet I subscribed to gun list and used to check them out monthly. That's when I first heard of Tony Galazan. I would like to have one of these sets, It's almost exactly what you describe above.
  2. Here's some interesting reading material while at the bar. Wrote Winchester when I was in High School, wonder if the prices are still good!
  3. I picked up a little beer for our fantasy football draft. A 3 liter Duvel.
  4. JL They are both 16 ohms, one is a university and one's an ev. I'm getting an ev because they are the better tweeter I have been told. I was wondering the benefit to changing both crossovers to 16 ohm, if it's an easy upgrade and I don't have to get new drivers and woofers. Tom
  5. I've had my khorns for a month now and still cannot believe how good they sound, even as fifty year old speakers. My first step in upgrading is to get matching tweeters. I am going to buy a t-35 and change the diaphragm to match the 16 ohm crossovers. I was wondering if there is a noticable difference in sound between and 8 ohm and a 16 ohm speakers. I'm a total noobie at crossovers so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom
  6. This may the most OT thread yet. My friend loves border collies and I've seen what they can do. Pretty impressive.
  7. I just acquired my khorns a short time ago and have tried two scott integrateds, an hk 730, mc2100, but have settled on two MC250's run in mono through my Peach. It sounds best to me, may be overkill with an actual power rating of about 140 watts each in mono, but it's clearer than any other set up i've used so far. Tom
  8. I bet there aren't too many matching two way's.
  9. Here's one crossover, the other is identical, but with bare copper wire
  10. Wm McD: Thanks for the help. My crossovers look nothing like the ones in those those photo's. I will attach a picture. I have a friend who is an electrical engineer and he's coming over to check the specs. There are numbers on the components so that's a start. I've decided to get an ev tweeter for now. These are 16 Ohms and they aren't that scarce. A forum member has one he is checking on. I don't want to go to crazy. They sound great as is, even with mismatched tweeters. The woofers are mismatched too. The 54 has the holy grail trusonic and the 56 has an ev. They don't sound different, but it's awful hard to tell I would bet. Tom
  11. One of my fave Motowns is Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life. I also love the Otis portion of the Monterey Pop fest CD.
  12. I just got a mahogany peach cabinet and it matches grain almost exactly. The finish job is as good as on the other one which is Prima Vera. I put on some orange oil and it brought out the grain. My iphone camera isn't the best so I'm going to have to use Neal's picture for now. Tom
  13. Here's a picture I took for Neal's file
  14. I wonder if anyone can tell me what type of wood would be used when the finish is raw? The label on the 1954 Khorn I have now just says raw, but it doesn't look like birch, it has a much nicer grain. Tom
  15. They both have the 500-5000 crossover, they are huge, with three rolls of wire. I just checked the tweeters they both say 16 ohms. The crossovers are like new, the speakers were in great original shape. The bass bins were never opened and I felt bad for doing it, but had to know which drivers. Tom
  16. I just made the trip to Detroit for two. I don't think it can be done, even if you take the grills and tops off you still need a place to store them. Hindsite I wish I would have rented a uhaul, it would have saved Neal and his son a lot of work []. They are much bigger than they look. Tom
  17. Thank you, I'll borrow a meter and test that. Tom
  18. Thanks I'm going to get some of that.
  19. One last try, before I part them out [], not happening.
  20. I always have Laga at my house, it's my favorite everyday islay. My friends say it smells like a fresh opened band aid, it must be the iodine.
  21. Guess I should have put this in updates and modifications.
  22. I've been playing the Khorn's that I got from Detroit for almost two weeks straight. I really enjoy them and I'm suprised how much better they sound than my LSI's. The only thing I can see improving for the short term is the tweeters. One has the t-35 and the other the T-4100. These speakers are 16 Ohm so any tweeters I would get would have to be also. I was wondering what other people with older Khorns have done to their tweeters, and also crossovers. Mine are in great condition, no leaking caps or any other damage I can see. They are 500-5000 and they are large. Any tips or hints are appreciated. Glad I bought them and want to keep them as original as possible. Tom
  23. Have you guys had Ardbeg, if you like Islay's this is a keeper? Tom
