  1. I use this arguement with the wife, I also use the one that some guys spend 30,000 on a classic car, and it doesn''t go far. As far as friends go, everytime I meet someone new I am introduced as the guy with the bad### home stereo system. I have a couple of friends trying to talk me into a 300 dvd release party. I am thinking about it. Great idea on the 300 release party. I find myself looking forward to that DVD also. Maybe it has something to do with seeing it in my first Klipsch equiped movie theater when it came out.
  2. I have a few that are, and I think it is cool that this hobby can go in so many directions. One of my friends has gotten into vinyl, and he is also putting his CD's on a music server lately. Another one of my buddies is totally into itunes and getting about a zillion songs on his ipod that he then also plays through his Klipsch reference 2 channel/HT setup. Plenty of room for all different types of obsession!! Everyone is welcome.
  3. That's why I LOVE my TiVo. The 30 second skip hack is just about right for football, except for the no-huddle offense. As soon as the whistle blows at the end of a play, *pop*, I'm watching the center get ready to snap the ball again. Football games normally take about 45 minutes to watch. (Except for the Cornhusker games, which I watch straight through religiously with the rest of the faithful. Except for the commercials.) That's for damned sure. Yak, yak, endless yak. Shut up and play. Thanks tenzip. We have been having a blast. I would recommend the second TV. Makes for more opportunity to hang out together with multiple things going on. The Wii is on the TV on the right, with a PS2 going on the left. Satellite is going to both, so we can get pretty much any combination going at any time. Usually, it's games on the TV's, and music coming out of the Corns.[] And, you can't even see the 2 Lazyboys aimed directly at the TV's!!
  4. Hijacking is OK as long as it is with football, and in particular, Cowboy talk. I was not happy when they picked him up, but in today's NFL, BS from players seems more common than not. He just takes it to the next level. He could talk all he wants if he could just catch the ball. All of that talk and then he leads the NFL in drops[:|] I still love the NFL, but I put up with player BS that comes with it. Touchdowns, first downs, big hits-act like you have been there before!!!!!
  5. He's confused just as I was as a kid growing up. My dad had no interest interest in sports so I ended up a Cowboys fan living in Chicagoland. I always like to see Chicago teams do well, but in the NFL my heart lies with the Cowboys. How bout them Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Always nice to see another Yamaha/Klipsch fan on the forum.
  7. When you are using the LFE output as you should for the Sub, you want to wire the speakers directly to the receiver. Welcome to the forum! Now get that thing rewired and get to rockin'!!!!!!!!
  8. Here is a pic of the basement setup. The boys and I have been pretty much hiding down here all day on the weekends. Almost hate to see good weather get here...........almost. Projector screen will go above the TV's in front of where the center is now. I have been trolling craigslist, etc. No hurry though, two 36"ers seem to be pacifying us for now.
  9. I like the no rowdies, too. I did not have any incidents last Saturday, but I did notice some pretty stern warnings against rude behavior prior to the show. Now I will be back for sure. Plus, I missed the mints so I have to go back.
  10. I don't go out to the movies very often since we started having kids about ten years ago, but once in a while a movie comes along that I can not wait to see. So, after watching The Incredibles on the basement system(awesome) with the family early last night, I headed out to catch the movie 300. I went to Classic Cinemas in Oak Park, IL for a 9:30 pm show. I literally have at least 10 theaters within a half hour of my house, so when I go I like to try different ones. The reason I chose Classic Cinemas (I had never been there before) was that they were showing it in digital. I had also never seen a digital showing of any movie. The theater is big and kind of weirdly shaped. The first 25 rows are in a standard, pretty wide set up. The whole room then narrows a good 10 seats on either side and goes back about another 30-40 rows. Very long and narrow. I grab seat about half way back in the back section. I then start to wonder how all of this is going to sound with the weird shape of the room. I decided to move up to about where the room narrows so as not to be blocked from the surrounds right up by the huge screen. I have my Ipod on, so I notice the BS at the beginning is kind of loud, but I am more concerned at this point than anything after being disapointed with the sound at just about every other theater I have ever been too. The previews start so I take the Ipod off. The sound is loud, clear, and unbelievable. I look over my shoulder and guess what was there? A Heresy hanging from the wall. I look back and see a Heresy about every 6 feet on both walls all the way back to 4 of them across the back wall. There had to be at least 8 on each wall. I don't know what was going on up front, but it sounded awesome. I really enjoyed the movie, the digital picture, and, of course, the sound. I would highly recommend anyone in the Chicago area remotely close to Oak Park going to check this place out. It is on Lake street in downtown Oak Park. This may make me start going to the movies again. I finally have the reference point I am trying to duplicate with my home systems.
  11. I hate to admit it, but those are in my burb. Lurking, somewhere, in the turquoise shadows of La Grange Park. Seriously though, how about a moment of silence for what I am sure are a beautiful sounding pair of K-horns.
  12. I think it took me 6 mos. to find mine, and then another 6 mos. to convince fellow forum member Rick Tate to part with them. As others have said, worth the wait.
  13. Let's rock. Let's rock. Let's rock. Today.
  14. Did anyone tell him about Heritage yet?[]
  15. Congrats!!!! Be sure and check out Wii play if you are going to be in the market for additional controllers. It is sort of like more Wii sports, but it comes with a controller for $50 when the controllers alone are $40. The games are just OK, but worth $10. I have also enjoyed Call of Duty 3 if you like WW2 shooters. It did not get the best reviews, but it is a ton of fun with the Wii controller. If it just had online play I think it would be outstanding.
  16. Allow me............................nothing.
  17. They rocked once Axl decided to come out and bless us with his presence. One of the times I saw them in Chicago was the show after the St. Louis incident when I believe there was actually a warrant out for his arrest. He bitched more than he sang that night, but it was one of those disasters you are glad to be at. Slash was always my favorite anyway. I hear Axl is up to his same old tricks on the last tour. Making his fans wait 2 hours for him come out after the opening act.
  18. Good news re: VR. Too bad about no Rubin. I love the sound he puts together. It tends to be BIG.
  19. You too can jam Free Bird. It is one of the songs on Guitar Hero 2 for the PS2!
  20. I hope you're kidding. The last I knew we had another VR CD on the way. I saw those guys live a couple of years ago at the IL state fair. They rocked! The sound was the worst I have ever heard at a concert. They had them in the infield aimed back at the covered, steel bleachers so the sound was going up in the grandstand and bouncing all over the place. It was awful. However, they put on a great, high energy show. I have always been a Slash fan. That thing Axl is calling Guns and Roses is not the band we knew and loved. Plus he recently dissed one of my favorite new bands, The Eagles of Death Metal. Axl wishes he could still rock as hard as EODM.
  21. Too much sub is never enough. I love my SVS. That said, I am probably going to go Klipsch for the upstairs system because I don't have the room for the HUGE box. Also, you think the sub looks big, I just had to laugh at the box it came in. Imagine plenty of padding, then a cardboard box around it up on about a six inch skid. My wife just shook her head.
  22. I would suggest calling SVS. They are always extremely helpful in getting you to the right product.
  23. Now you're talkin'! I hadn't thought of that.
  24. I second the love for the 50" Panny!
