  1. Happy Chanukkah to everyone. One should not criticize anyone for any reason. Unless you have the facts to prove otherwise. Amps-speakers-tt-cd-DVD-all have a synergistic feeling on the music we hear. I am sure we all have the feeling that our system is the best bang for the buck. I know that I am so satisfied with my system but I will always look for some more Corns or maybe some K Horns to upgrade the system but I am happy with what I have and would love the hear what the rest have. There is no nirvana to compare to live music and our obsession is just a hobby. We should just live with what we have and hopefully can upgrade to a more satisfying listening experience. Cheers
  2. Just give me a 22oz PorterHouse with a BIC. Olive oil, salt, pepper and crushed garlic. Cooked over mesquite charcoal. No gas for me. Doing this over the weekend. Twice baked potatoe and asparagus with butter. We get our meat at Cypress Meat Market in NW Houston. All farm raised locally. Down here in Houston we have a good supply of locally raised beef, chicken and hogs. Smoked two turkeys over the Thanksgiving weekend and went through about1/8 cord of mesquite and pecan. You stuff the turkeys with apples and red onions and baste them in a mix of butter and olive oil. Cook 2 hours for every 2 pounds of turkey. Cheers.

  4. You can use a DPDT(DoublePoleDoubleThrow) toggle switch from Rat Shack or any electronic warehouse like Fry's. I would take it out and let them match it.

  6. It's about time. This guy has been avoiding the police for too long. I hope he gets what he needs after all these years. I liked his music back in the 80's but he has got out of control. Would any of you parents want to let him loose with your kids? I do not think so. My kids and all my friends kids say he is just whacked. The parents that let their kids be around him are just asking for what they deserve. Do they not read the news? Do they not watch TV? Why would any reasonable parent allow their children to be around this person? I dunno, maybe $$$$. The parents should be held accountable for allowing them to be around this freak. He is a pedophile homosexual and I am not afraid to say so. Sorry to rain on someone's parade, but this guy needs to be stopped. He needs to go to jail. Then maybe he will get the idea of what his consequenses are. I am sorry for what I have had to say but this guy needs to learn his lesson. Maybe he needs to have a reality check that deals with the real world and how it works. Maybe when he is in prison he will realise how bad he has affected these children. I do not know, as I am not one who deals with this type of disorders, but this is not normal. There is a pattern that has been developing over the years as I have been watching over the years how this person has been changing over the years. Just a rant as I would never allow my children to follow this freak no matter what kind of music he put out. Cheers.
  7. Looks like JBL to me maybe some old KLH. Ask NBC>
  8. I've got Year of the Cat on a MOFI vinyl. You should get this as it was probably one of his greater efforts. Love those vinyl sleeves they had with MOFI. Finally started replacing all of the sleeves but with over 1,000 albums I am doing this in small amounts. But back to Al, Time Passages was a great album that got considerable air play which is why I sort of got tired of it but I have not listened to for a while so I think I will have to spin it. Thanks for the suggestion, again. Listened to Supertramp-Crisis, What Crisis? last night and forgot how good this sounds. Check that one out. Cheers.
  9. Well you could live on the Gulf Coast and go through the Hurricanes and Tropical Storms every few years. Nothing like not having power for 10 days or more. After Carla,Alecia,Allison I guess we have been lucky for a couple of years. Don't fret, they will get back your power and all will be good. There could be a hell of a lot worse than that. Besides, a good book can be most enjoyable. Cheers.

  11. If you saw them live then you know how good these guys are. Nothing like a 3 hour concert. Saw them in Denver and Houston during this tour. In Houston Steve Morse opened up for them. What a treat. The Denver show was open seating and you could walk right up to the stage and watch John Petrucci's fingers fly. This year they were teamed up with Queensryche. DT and QR played the encore together! A wall of sound. By the way the CD is enhanced and shows how they recorded it. Best buy had it for 11.99. Cheers.
  12. Sounds like a ground loop problem. Try moving the sub to a different outlet and see if it still occurs. That is a fairly weird problem. That is one reason I do not use a cordless phone. Picking up other peoples conversation.
  13. Picked this up yesterday. What a phenominal album. Too bad it is not on vinyl. The guitar riffs are just amazing and the sound is quite a bit darker than their previous albums. Highly Recommended.
  14. Thanks for reminding the group. The Tour Championship and Lunar Eclipse. And the sun is actually shining with a high of 71.Cheers.
  15. Thanks for the info. I will be searching ebay this evening and calling the NY number this afternoon. Can't wait to play my MOFI albums with a new belt. Got an Ortofon 30 at Tweeter last week. Now to look for another Thorens and try an Infinity Black Widow tonearm. Back in the days it was one of the most recommended arms for Thorens. Crawfish Cheers.
  16. I just put in a Dell HDDLP projector and screen for a friend of mine in his new Cajun bar for $1100 I got off of ebay and the picture is unreal. It is just hooked up to the standard Motorola cable box and the picture is spectacular. The cable co.(TW) is delivering the HD box today so I am heading down there to set it up. It has S video, composite, component inputs. You can see scan lines right now at about 5 ft. but from 10 ft. you hardly see any. I am sure there are better projectors but check this one out. Crawfish Cheers!
  17. I would like to find a Thorens TD145-Mk2 belt. Mine is getting a little stretched as it takes longer to get up to speed. Once it gets going it is fine according to the mat where I use a flourescent light to measure the speed. I normally just spin the platter then turn it on and it gets to speed faster. By the way if you have not heard this TT then get a chance to cause it is just unbelievably quiet.
  18. Saw it this afternoon at Edwards IMAX. If you have a chance to see it in this format drive a hundred miles to see it. You will not be disapointed. They have a JBL THX EX sound system that is just cranked to unreal levels. I can't imagine hearing this at home without breaking a window. The bass will tickle the extremities. The story is a little hard to follow but once it gets going it is one rollercoaster ride. Hope everyone enjoys. Cheers.
  19. I have a Onkyo TX-DS797B and am satisfied with the sound of it. I use it for HT only and it really packs a wallop. I tried to listen at Dolby Reference levels and it was too loud. The Ref level is 83 I listen at around 70. Still to loud for most friends. Guess the demon in me likes the immense sound. Either way you would like any of the more midpriced AVR's. If you can go with a seperate two channel rig for stereo listening. You can pick up for fairly cheap a good tube amp and pre-amp along with a TT that will be much superior to most of the solid state gear floating around. And with the Klipsch line-up you don't have to have a lot of power to make them sound great. Enjoy.
  20. Best Buy in Houston has the DVD and 3 CD bundled for $40. The CD has some tracks that are not on the DVD. Just listened in 2 channel and the crowd noise is incredible. Highly recommended.
  21. Hellraiser,Suspiria,Motel Hell,Town of 10,000 Maniacs,Dawn of the Dead,anything by Dario DeArgento(Tenebre).
  22. Maxell Jazz Sampler Warren Zevon-Excitable Boy Los Lonely Boys Zydeco Dots Rush-A Farewell to Kings
  23. 2nd that for Jean Luc Ponty. Saw him in 79 at the Rainbow Music Hall, Denver. Darryl Steurmer was the guitarist and blended quite well. Ralph Armstrong played a fretless electric bass and was one of the best players I have seen at the time. Enjoy.
  24. Pull me under does not even get played here in Houston. We are a Clear Channel market(yuch). Thanks to the local prog scene we get local bands that do some of their covers. Stride is a local prog band that is doing a Journey tribute with a local singer on the 18th. Remember when music was good on the radio?
  25. According to their website they will come to the Americas next year. They are starting off in Europe at the first of the year. Later dates to be announced.
