Group hug. Now that we're all one big happy family again, could someone please tell me what the update is on the Scott? Craig, is it on it's way to you yet? Kelly, huh...you did buy it, right? Imagine my report on Heritage if I'm forced to hook them up to the Aragon.

Well, there's the rub. I have no intention of taking the RF7's off of those Apollos. It's a melt in your mouth kind of sound. I sold the DQ's in less than 3 hours today, and the buyer didn't even try to talk me down. He paid the 3% paypal and all the shipping to boot. So, I had $750 left after the Heresy purchase. I really wanted to buy some replacement tubes for the Apollos, and so I just got done doing that. The new KR300BXLS' were $450. I had to do this, because I don't know what kind of money I will have in the future, and the new tube is much improved over the original version that came with the amps, so -- I'm down to $350.00. I listed the Aragon today as well, and I'm hoping for $750 here. I really want to put some of this away for a rainy day, or some other insane spur of the moment upgrade. So, I need an amp for the Heresys. What I really need is an integrated that has a preout, so I can use my SVS with those whimpy Heresys. I don't think there is anyway to use an Eico or Scott with my SVS, or least, not that I can think of right off hand. I don't have any high level input/outputs on my HSU electronic crossover. Damn, should have bought those K-horns instead...hee hee I'll have to think on this for a while.

I don't really understand the big deal regarding the "no reserve" bit. I mean, it's not like this guy is a power seller and going be overly concerned about his feedback. Also, it's not like eBay is going to drive a truck over there and confiscate the speakers. So, what do you have? Breech of contract? Are you going to sue the guy in some New York court? This seller is obviously new to the whole eBay thing -- and I can assure you that he has no intention of letting these go for less than $2300 plus shipping. Remember, an eBay auction is a legal commitment to sell your item to the highest bidder. If you receive at least one bid at or above your stated minimum price (or in the case of reserve auctions, at or above the reserve price), you are obligated to complete the transaction. A failure to do so is a breach of the User Agreement and may be legally actionable by one or more of the bidders. You have the right to cancel a transaction only under exceptional circumstances.

I bought SVS because I couldn't afford the RSW-15. What you need to be concerned with is that the overall output of the sub can match the output of your Klipsch. Given the efficiency of your Cornwalls and the size of your room -- I would say the RSW-15 is in order.

THX doesn't have anything to do with encoding or decoding or any of that. It simply defines a list of standards for Theaters and Home Theater products, and has more to do with Qaulity Control than anything else. In the beginning, it primarily had to do with standardization in movie theaters. I do believe Lucas has gone a little coo-coo with the whole thing though. Just an example of another good idea taken to ridiculous extremes.

I never upgrade my OS until they come out with the next latest and greatest -- for that's about the time it takes to get the previous version running right. I'll run 2000 until everyone is bored with XP, then I'll consider XP.

...and don't forget -- all amps sound the same in DBT. Congrats -- it probably does sound pretty sweet.

Ed, Want to see my last email from my wife? I sent her an untitled email to test the waters so to speak. Her main objection is the size. She's a good trooper and would probably let me buy a pair if I really wanted. I thought that if I sold everything off, I could put something like the Eico or Scott on the RF7's, and buy some 2a3 offering for the K-horns. The truth is, I have no good place to put them, and the thought of selling the Apollos off or changing what I have going on right now with the RF7's kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies. So...Scalas or Cornwalls? SET has ruined me. I only like the DQ's when they're pushed to their limits. Yes, sounds outstanding. However, my wife has to literally peel me out of my chair upstairs now. At anything but the most outrageous listening levels -- the DQ's sound almost one dimensional compared to the Apollos and RF7's. I really want to try some Heritage or other form of horns. However, with money being the way it is right now, I have to sell something off to give it a whirl. I'm hoping I can move the DQ's and Aragon for $1900. This should get me into some Heritage and Eico or Scott. The experiment was important. Everything I have done over the last year or so has been simply to validate for myself what creates the most musical, satisfying experience. The DQ-10 is an outstanding speaker -- but has not been fairing well against the RF7's and Apollos. The truth is, if I can top the sound I have downstairs for the same amount of money -- why not? The DQ's were fun, and I learned a ton. However, it's time for me to find out for myself if three-horns are as obnoxious as I think they are:) Crap, I've been wrong about everything else I ever thought, I figure I'm probably wrong about this too. It'll be interesting to see if they sell. If I can't move them I may have to resort to using my imagination. Maybe split the crossover up and biamp them with some 50wpc ultralinear amps.

Man, that sounds like a great name for a Rock Band, "The Chainsaw Quartet". You are right, I never have heard the 20's or the 30's with a good amp. I'm sure it makes a huge difference. I'm also wondering if he got these 30's new. I think something needs to be said regarding break-in as well. Even the RF7's are a little rough for the first couple of weeks.

Ouch! What did you do with the DQ's? Trade them in? Well, swapping out that midrange horn probably isn't going to help much. The mid-horn from the Heresy isn't just going to drop in anyways. Also, most of what's happening with the response is due to the crossover. If you are brave, and handy with a soldering gun, you could start experimenting with the resistors in the crossover. If you can isolate the ones controlling the midrange response, you can raise those values a little and drop the output of the driver. You have made quite a drastic change in sonic signature. I find the KLF series extremely abrasive in nature. Short of modding the x-over, your only alternatives are...putting cotton in your ears, stuffing the driver with cotton, or lining your listening room with, yes, you guessed it -- cotton. One thing that would certainly help would be to put them on a low powered tube amp -- it would probably do wonders. I'm looking for an obnoxious set of three-way horns to play with myself, and if you grow tired of the 30's -- you might be able to persuade me into an even trade for my DQ's -- which are better than new in every way.

Cool. Actually I HAD the cash and was ready to go, but I wasn't going to buy them without more information, this much is true. My purchase wasn't dependant on the Aragon sale -- I would have just had to move it to replace the money I wasn't supposed to spend. Bummed last night but O.K. today.

Yep, he takes this stuff damn serious. I think we all do -- just to varying degrees. He deserves great latitude, we all owe him quite a bit here. Looks like we might all be owing you too!
